Mining Knowledge in X-Ray Images for Lung Cancer Diagnosis
نویسنده
چکیده
Availability of digital data within picture archiving and communication systems raises a possibilities of health care and research enhancements associated with manipulation, processing and handling of data by computers. That is a basis for computer-assisted radiology development. Further development of computer-assisted radiology is associated with the use of new intelligent capabilities, such as multimedia support, rule-based processing, computer-assisted diagnosis based on knowledge-based layer, the domain of expert-systems, model definition and codification or reproduction of expert’s decision mode, which are developing to support decision making of radiologist. In the paper, we present our work on data mining for medical image diagnosis. We use decision tree induction in order to learn the symbolic knowledge for computer-assisted image analysis. We apply our method to interpretation of x-ray images for lung cancer diagnosis. We describe our methodology on how to perform data mining on picture archiving systems. Our tool for data mining is described. Results are given and compared to conventional knowledge acquisition method. The method has shown very good results so that we are going on to apply it to other medical image diagnosis tasks like mammography image analysis.

Lung cancer is a disease of uncontrolled cell growth in tissues of the lung, Lung cancer is one of the most common and deadly diseases in the world. Detection of lung cancer in its early stage is the key of its cure. In general, a measure for early stage lung cancer diagnosis mainly includes those utilizing X-ray chest films, CT, MRI, etc. Medical images mining is a promising area of computatio...
متن کاملVariations in Lung Fissures and Lobes: a Case Report
The Knowledge of variations in the lung can help surgeons to control bleeding during pulmonary lobectomy or might be used to reduce post-operative complications. Due to the importance of the knowledge of variations in lungs for clinicians, especially surgeons and radiologists, we report a case with lung lobe and fissure. During the autopsy of a 27-year-old man at the Legal Medicine Organizatio...
متن کاملRadiosensitization effect of ZnO nanoparticles in lung cancer cells at clinically relevant megavoltage energy
Introduction: Radiation therapy is one of the major modalities that have long been used in cancer treatment. Radiotherapy is often accompanied by early and late toxicity and side effects and narrow therapeutic window. Similarity in radiation absorption properties of tumors and neighboring healthy tissues is often the reason for low specificity of radiation therapy. Development ...
متن کاملAutomatic Detection of Lung Cancer in Ct Images
Lung cancer is the most critical reason for death. To enhance cancer detection the radiologists using distinctive scans and X-ray’s. Consequently, we use CT scan images for inspecting the interiors of the body. An automatic cancer detection system proposed to distinguish cancerous tumor from the CT scan images. The cancer detection scheme consists of four stages. They are preprocessing, segment...
متن کاملDetection of lung cancer using CT images based on novel PSO clustering
Lung cancer is one of the most dangerous diseases that cause a large number of deaths. Early detection and analysis can be very helpful for successful treatment. Image segmentation plays a key role in the early detection and diagnosis of lung cancer. K-means algorithm and classic PSO clustering are the most common methods for segmentation that have poor outputs. In t...
