A New Model for Lexical Choice for Open-Class Words
نویسنده
چکیده
The lexical choice process should be regarded as a constraint satisfaction problem: the generation system must choose a lexical unit that is accurate (t~mthful), va//d (conveys the necessary information), and preferred (maxirnal under a preference function). This corts~aint-based architecture allows a clema separation to be made between what the system knows of the object or event, and what the system wishes to communicate about the object or event. It also allows lexical choices to be biased towards basic-level (Rosch 1978) and other preferred lexical units.

Redundancy allocation problem for k-out-of-n systems with a choice of redundancy strategies
To increase the reliability of a specific system, using redundant components is a common method which is called redundancy allocation problem (RAP). Some of the RAP studies have focused on k-out-of-n systems. However, all of these studies assumed predetermined active or standby strategies for each subsystem. In this paper, for the first time, we propose a k-out-of-<em...
متن کاملرویکردی با ناظر در استخراج واژگان کلیدی اسناد فارسی با استفاده از زنجیرههای لغوی
Keywords are the main focal points of interest within a text, which intends to represent the principal concepts outlined in the document. Determining the keywords using traditional methods is a time consuming process and requires specialized knowledge of the subject. For the purposes of indexing the vast expanse of electronic documents, it is important to automate the keyword extraction task. S...
متن کاملL2 Learners’ Lexical Inferencing: Perceptual Learning Style Preferences, Strategy Use, Density of Text, and Parts of Speech as Possible Predictors
This study was intended first to categorize the L2 learners in terms of their learning style preferences and second to investigate if their learning preferences are related to lexical inferencing. Moreover, strategies used for lexical inferencing and text related issues of text density and parts of speech were studied to determine their moderating effects and the best predictors of lexical infe...
متن کاملElectrophysiological signatures of visual lexical processing: open- and closed-class words.
This paper presents evidence of the disputed existence of an electrophysiological marker for the lexical-categorical distinction between open- and closed-class words. Event-related brain potentials were recorded from the scalp while subjects read a story. Separate waveforms were computed for open- and closed-class words. Two aspects of the waveforms could be reliably related to vocabulary class...
متن کاملLexical access and frequency sensitivity: frequency saturation and open/closed class equivalence.
Whether closed-class words use the same lexical access route(s) as open-class words has been intensely debated recently. Differences in frequency sensitivity have been suggested as one manifestation of separable access routes. However, all the lexical decision studies have been limited by floor effects at the higher frequency ranges which could mask theoretically important differences in the be...
