چکیده

In today’s hyper-competitive business environ1 ments virtual organisations are becoming highly dynamic 2 and unpredictable. Individuals may want to work together 3 across organisation boundaries but do not have much prior 4 knowledge about potential partners. The semantic web and 5 its associated new standards appear very promising as can6 didates to support a new generation of virtual organisations. 7 Whilst knowledge can be represented in a machine inter8 pretable way, social-like behaviours can be expected in a vir9 tual organisation. In this paper ontology definition techniques 10 from the semantic web are applied to define a virtual state 11 space of a virtual organisation. Actors involved in an organi12 sation, from high level strategy making members to low level 13 physical devices, advertise their skills and local knowledge in 14 a community. A task initiator, with a virtual sensor to perceive 15 the advertised skills and with an adaptive belief model about 16 the community, seeks for the best matched partners for coope17 ration. The belief model is a fuzzy neural network based on 18 Adaptive Resonance Theory which takes the advertisements 19 of actors as its initial belief and learns actors’ actual capa20 bilities through interaction experience. Dynamic alliances 21 can then take place in an automated/semi-automated way 22 that exhibit adaptive ability, self-organisation, unsupervised 23 P. The alliances thus exhibit 24 the inherent characteristics of realistic enterprises or human 25 societies. 26

Intelligent Distributed Fault Management for Communication Networks

In this paper, we present an intelligent, distributed fault management system for communication networks using belief networks as fault model and inference engine. The managed network is divided into domains and for each domain, there is an intelligent agent called Domain Diagnostic Agent attached to it, which is responsible for this domain's fault management. Belief network models are embedded...

A Multiagent Reinforcement Learning algorithm to solve the Community Detection Problem

Community detection is a challenging optimization problem that consists of searching for communities that belong to a network under the assumption that the nodes of the same community share properties that enable the detection of new characteristics or functional relationships in the network. Although there are many algorithms developed for community detection, most of them are unsuitable when ...

Method integration: An approach to develop agent oriented methodologies

Agent oriented software engineering (AOSE) is an emerging field in computer science  and  proposes some systematic ideas for multi agent systems analysis, implementation and maintenance. Despite the various methodologies introduced in the agent-oriented software engineering, the main challenges are defects in different aspects of methodologies. According to the defects resulted from weaknesses ...

Estimating Population Attitudes with CogSim

Introduction: Estimating the nonkinetic effects of irregular warfare (IW) actions on the population, such as those described in the U.S. Army counterinsurgency manual,1 is now incorporated into the analysis of IW war games. CogSim is an agent-based population attitude model developed at NRL as a prototype to predict coalition formation between several groups based on social science theories, na...

Modeling the formation of R\&D alliances: An agent-based model with empirical validation

We develop an agent-based model to reproduce the size distribution of R&D alliances of firms. Agents are uniformly selected to initiate an alliance and to invite collaboration partners. These decide about acceptance based on an individual threshold that is compared with the utility expected from joining the current alliance. The benefit of alliances results from the fitness of the agents involv...
