Organocatalytic enantioselective hydrophosphonylation of aldehydes.

We report our results concerning the first squaramide-catalysed hydrophosphonylation of aldehydes. In all cases, the reactions proceeded smoothly and cleanly under mild reaction conditions rendering final α-hydroxy phosphonates in very good yields and high enantioselectivities.
