Parallel Pentran Solutions of the “tiel” Steady State Neutron Transport Benchmark Problems

چکیده
The TIEL benchmarks include a set of analytical benchmark solutions to the transport equation in infinite media. In this paper, we present solutions for the infinite planar, point, spherical shell, and solid spherical sources solved using the PENTRAN 3-D Parallel SN code compared to reference solutions of the TIEL benchmark problems. Excellent agreement (less than 0.7% difference) was achieved when comparing reference solutions with PENTRAN scalar fluxes in the case of planar, shell and solid sphere sources. Depending on the scattering properties and the geometry of the system, Legendre-Chebychev quadratures as high as S34 for the planar or S54 for the spherical symmetry sources, with appropriate spatial discretization, were needed to properly represent the flux. Inherent numerical difficulties were encountered when finding the solution in the very close proximity (< 0.1 mfp) of the sources.

Criticality Problems for Slabs and Spheres in Energy Dependent Neutron Transport Theory
The steady-state equation for energy-dependent neutron transport in isotropically scattering slabs and spheres is formulated as an integral equation. The Perron-FrobeniusJentzsch theory of positive operators is used to analyze criticality problems for transport in slab and spherical media consisting of core and reflector. In addition, with an adroit selection of diffusion-like solutions, this t...

A Neutron Transport Code ATES3 (Anisotropic Transport Equation Solver in 3D), which was developed at BARC for the deterministic solution of 3D steady-state neutron transport problems, has been parallelized using Message Passing Parallel Programming model on BARC’s ANUPAM Parallel Supercomputer. The most time consuming step in the code ATES3, which is transport sweep, was made parallel using thr...
متن کاملA Method of Characteristics Solution to the Oecd/nea 3d Neutron Transport Benchmark Problem
A method of characteristics for steady-state transport calculations that can be applied to problems with a full and explicit 3D Cartesian system model has been implemented into the new code, MOCK-3D. Procedures for performing 3D ray-tracing are derived from methods that are employed in most lattice physics codes and simplifications to the discretized problem model minimize the expense associate...
متن کاملMultiple solutions of a nonlinear reactive transport model using least square pseudo-spectral collocation method
The recognition and the calculation of all branches of solutions of the nonlinear boundary value problems is difficult obviously. The complexity of this issue goes back to the being nonlinearity of the problem. Regarding this matter, this paper considers steady state reactive transport model which does not have exact closed-form solution and discovers existence of dual or triple solutions in so...
متن کاملOptimal Pareto Parametric Analysis of Two Dimensional Steady-State Heat Conduction Problems by MLPG Method
Numerical solutions obtained by the Meshless Local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method are presented for two dimensional steady-state heat conduction problems. The MLPG method is a truly meshless approach, and neither the nodal connectivity nor the background mesh is required for solving the initial-boundary-value problem. The penalty method is adopted to efficiently enforce the essential boundary co...
