Ground state and excitations of the extended Hubbard model

چکیده
We examine the ground state and excitations of the one dimensional extended Hubbard model with long range interaction. The ground state wavefunction and low lying excitations are given explicitly in the form of a Jastrow product of two-body terms. This result motivates an asymptotic Bethe ansatz solution for the model. We present evidence that this solution is in fact exact and spans the complete spectrum of states.

Emulating non-Abelian topological matter in cold-atom optical lattices
Certain proposed extended Bose-Hubbard models may exhibit topologically ordered ground states with excitations obeying non-Abelian braid statistics. A sufficient tuning of Hubbard parameters could yield excitation braiding rules allowing implementation of a universal set of topologically protected quantum gates. We discuss potential difficulties in realizing a model with a proposed non-Abelian ...
متن کاملOPTIMUM PERFORMANCE-BASED DESIGN OF CONCENTRICALLY BRACED STEEL FRAMES SUBJECTED TO NEAR-FAULT GROUND MOTION EXCITATIONS
This paper presents a practical methodology for optimization of concentrically braced steel frames subjected to forward directivity near-fault ground motions, based on the concept of uniform deformation theory. This is performed by gradually shifting inefficient material from strong parts of the structure to the weak areas until a state of uniform deformation is achieved. In this regard, to ove...
متن کاملDMRG studies of the properties of Low - lying states of Poly - para - phenylene ( PPP ) system
We report the symmetrized density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) study of neutral and doped oligomers of PPP system within an extended Hubbard model. Model parameters are determined by comparing the existing results for interacting small system. We compute a number of properties in the ground state as well as in the one-photon, two-photon and triplet states to completely characterize these...
متن کاملBreakdown of the Luttinger sum - rule at the Mott - Hubbard transition in the one - dimensional t 1 − t 2 Hubbard model .
– We investigate the momentum distribution function near the Mott-Hubbard transition in the one-dimensional t1 − t2 Hubbard model (the zig-zag Hubbard chain), with the density-matrix renormalization-group technique. We show that for strong interactions the Mott-Hubbard transition occurs between the metallic-phase and an insulating dimerized phase with incommensurate spin excitations, suggesting...
متن کاملTheory of electrons with orbital degeneracy
The Hubbard model for electrons with orbital degeneracy is shown to have an underlying SUd(4) symmetry of spin-orbital double. A hidden charge SUc(4) symmetry is exposed and an extended Lieb-Mattis transformation, which maps these two symmetries into each other, is given. On the basis of elementary degenerate perturbative theory, it is shown that the system with strong repulsive coupling is equ...
