چکیده

The problem of determining power integral bases in algebraic number fields is equivalent to solving the corresponding index form equations. As is known (cf. Győry [25]), every index form equation can be reduced to an equation system consisting of unit equations in two variables over the normal closure of the original field. However, the unit rank of the normal closure is usually too large for practical use. In a recent paper Győry [27] succeeded in reducing index form equations to systems of unit equations in which the unknown units are elements of unit groups generated by much fewer generators. On the other hand, Wildanger [32] worked out an efficient enumeration algorithm that makes it feasible to solve unit equations even if the rank of the unit group is ten. Combining these developments we describe an algorithm to solve completely index form equations in quintic fields. The method is illustrated by numerical examples: we computed all power integral bases in totally real quintic fields with Galois group S5.

A FIXED POINT APPROACH TO THE INTUITIONISTIC FUZZY STABILITY OF QUINTIC AND SEXTIC FUNCTIONAL EQUATIONS

The fixed point alternative methods are implemented to giveHyers-Ulam  stability for  the quintic functional equation $ f(x+3y)- 5f(x+2y) + 10 f(x+y)- 10f(x)+ 5f(x-y) - f(x-2y) = 120f(y)$ and thesextic functional equation $f(x+3y) - 6f(x+2y) + 15 f(x+y)- 20f(x)+15f(x-y) - 6f(x-2y)+f(x-3y) = 720f(y)$   in the setting ofintuitionistic fuzzy normed spaces (IFN-spaces).  This methodintroduces a met...

Progress towards Counting D5 Quintic Fields

Let N(5, D5, X) be the number of quintic number fields whose Galois closure has Galois group D5 and whose discriminant is bounded by X. By a conjecture of Malle, we expect that N(5, D5, X) ∼ C · X 1 2 for some constant C. The best known upper bound is N(5, D5, X) X 3 4, and we show this could be improved by counting points on a certain variety defined by a norm equation; computer calculations g...

Numerical studies of non-local hyperbolic partial differential equations using collocation methods

The non-local hyperbolic partial differential equations have many applications in sciences and engineering. A collocation finite element approach based on exponential cubic B-spline and quintic B-spline are presented for the numerical solution of the wave equation subject to nonlocal boundary condition. Von Neumann stability analysis is used to analyze the proposed methods. The efficiency, accu...

A parametric family of quintic Thue equations

For an integral parameter t ∈ Z we investigate the family of Thue equations F (x, y) = x + (t− 1)xy − (2t + 4t + 4)xy + (t + t + 2t + 4t − 3)xy + (t + t + 5t+ 3)xy + y = ±1 , originating from Emma Lehmer’s family of quintic fields, and show that for |t| ≥ 3.28 ·1015 the only solutions are the trivial ones with x = 0 or y = 0. Our arguments contain some new ideas in comparison with the standard ...

Solving Index Form Equations in Fields of Degree 9 with Cubic Subfields

We describe an efficient algorithm for solving index form equations in number fields of degree 9 which are composites of cubic fields with coprime discriminants. We develop the algorithm in detail for the case of complex cubic fields, but the main steps of the procedure are also applicable for other cases. Our most important tool is the main theorem of a recent paper of Gaál (1998a). In view of...
