Modelling Question Selection Behaviour in Online Communities

چکیده
Value of online Question Answering (Q&A) communities is driven by the question-answering behaviour of its members. Finding the questions that members are willing to answer is therefore vital to the e cient operation of such communities. In this paper, we aim to identify the parameters that correlate with such behaviours. We train di↵erent models and construct e↵ective predictions using various user, question and thread feature sets. We show that answering behaviour can be predicted with a high level of success.

Micro Modelling of User Perception and Generation Processes for Macro Level Predictions in Online Communities
The way information is presented to users in online community platforms has an influence on the way the users create new information. This is the case, for instance, in question-answering fora, crowdsourcing platforms or other social computation settings. To better understand the effects of presentation policies on user activity, we introduce a generative model of user behaviour in this paper. ...
متن کاملVideo Behaviour Profiling for Anomaly Detection
This paper aims to address the problem of modelling video behaviour captured in surveillance videos for the applications of online normal behaviour recognition and anomaly detection. A novel framework is developed for automatic behaviour profiling and online anomaly sampling/detection without any manual labelling of the training dataset. The framework consists of the following key components: (...
متن کاملADOVA: Anomaly Detection in Online and Virtual spAces
Online and virtual spaces comprise a myriad of ad-hoc networks and online communities. Such communities are composed of smart devices, agents, systems and people who seek to interact in one way or another. We argue that the task of detecting anomalies in such settings is non-trivial. The complexity is further compounded since there is no clear cut definition/specification of what normal behavio...

Online communities provide a useful environment for web users to communicate and interact with other users by sharing their thoughts, ideas and opinions, and for resolving problems and issues. Companies and organisations now host online communities in order to support their products and services. Given this investment such communities are required to remain healthy and flourish. The behaviour t...
متن کاملModelling and Analysis of User Behaviour in Online Communities
Understanding and forecasting the health of an online community is of great value to its owners and managers who have vested interests in its longevity and success. Nevertheless, the association between community evolution and the behavioural patterns and trends of its members is not clearly understood, which hinders our ability of making accurate predictions of whether a community is flourishi...
