Partial Stabilization of Descriptor Systems Using Spectral Projectors

چکیده
We consider the stabilization problem for large-scale linear descriptor systems in continuousand discrete-time. We suggest a partial stabilization algorithm which preserves stable poles of the system while the unstable ones are moved to the left half plane using state feedback. Our algorithm involves the matrix pencil disk function method to separate the finite from the infinite generalized eigenvalues and the stable from the unstable eigenvalues. In order to stabilize the unstable poles, either the generalized Bass algorithm or an algebraic Bernoulli equation can be used. Some numerical examples demonstrate the behavior of our algorithm.

Partial Eigenvalue Assignment in Discrete-time Descriptor Systems via Derivative State Feedback
A method for solving the descriptor discrete-time linear system is focused. For easily, it is converted to a standard discrete-time linear system by the definition of a derivative state feedback. Then partial eigenvalue assignment is used for obtaining state feedback and solving the standard system. In partial eigenvalue assignment, just a part of the open loop spectrum of the standard linear s...
متن کاملAn Iterative Model Order Reduction Scheme for a Special Class of Bilinear Descriptor Systems Appearing in Constraint Circuit Simulation
We focus on interpolatory-based model order reduction for a special class of bilinear descriptor systems in the H2-optimal framework, appearing in constraint circuit simulations. The straightforward extension of the H2-optimality conditions for ODE systems to descriptor systems generically may produce an unbounded error in the H2 or H∞ norm, or both. This arises due to the inappropriate use of ...
متن کاملComputational methods for model reduction of large-scale sparse structured descriptor systems
Currently descriptor systems, i.e., the systems whose dynamics obey differentialalgebraic equations (DAEs), play important roles in various disciplines of science and technology. In general, such systems are generated by finite element or finite difference methods. If the grid resolution becomes very fine, because many details must be resolved, the systems become very large. Moreover they are s...
متن کاملCanonical Projector Techniques for Analyzing Descriptor Systems
Physical systems are often naturally formulated as descriptor systems (DSs) which form a superset of the more restrictive standard state spaces. The analysis of a DS, however, is complicated by the algebraic coupling between its proper and improper subsystems. The recently emerging canonical projector technique, stemming from iterative matrix chain construction, provides a theoretically sound a...
متن کاملDetermining the order of minimal realization of descriptor systems without use of the Weierstrass canonical form
A common method to determine the order of minimal realization of a continuous linear time invariant descriptor system is to decompose it into slow and fast subsystems using the Weierstrass canonical form. The Weierstrass decomposition should be avoided because it is generally an ill-conditioned problem that requires many complex calculations especially for high-dimensional systems. The present ...
