چکیده

The proposed spam filtering architecture for MTA servers is a component based architecture that allows distributed processing and centralized knowledge. This architecture allows heterogeneous systems to coexist and benefit from a centralized knowledge source and filtering rules. MTA servers in the infrastructure contribute to a common knowledge, allowing for a more rational resource usage. The architecture is fully scalable, ranging from all-inone system with minimal components instances, to multiple components instances distributed across multiple systems. Filtering rules can be implemented as independent modules that can be added, removed or modified without impact on MTA servers operation. A proof-of-concept solution was developed. Most of spam is filtered due to a grey-listing effect from the architecture itself. Using simple filters as Domain Name System black and white lists, and Sender Policy Framework validation, it is possible to guarantee a spam filtering effective, efficient and virtually without false positives.

Anti-Spam Grid: A Dynamically Organized Spam Filtering Infrastructure

The spam problem is getting worse all the time. In the paper, we propose Anti-Spam Grid, which can collaboratively filter spam messages by forming a virtual organization. We discuss the design of fuzzy CopyRank and distributed Bayesian algorithm, and describe the architecture of Anti-Spam Grid. A detailed analysis shows that the system is reliable, efficient and scalable, and an experiment show...

Personalized Spam Filtering for Gray Mail

Gray mail, messages that could reasonably be considered either spam or good by different email users, is a commonly observed issue in production spam filtering systems. In this paper we study this class of mail using a large real-world email corpus and signaturebased campaign detection techniques. Our analysis shows that even an optimal filter will inevitably perform unsatisfactorily on gray ma...

A scalable intelligent non-content-based spam-filtering framework

Designing a spam-filtering system that can run efficiently on heavily burdened servers is particularly important to the widely used email service providers (ESPs) (e.g., Hotmail, Yahoo, and Gmail) who have to deal with millions of emails everyday. Two primary challenges these companies face in spam filtering are efficiency and scalability. This study is undertaken to develop an efficient and sc...

Trends in Combating Image Spam E-mails

With the rapid adoption of Internet as an easy way to communicate, the amount of unsolicited e-mails, known as spam e-mails, has been growing rapidly. The major problem of spam e-mails is the loss of productivity and a drain on IT resources. Today, we receive spam more rapidly than the legitimate e-mails. Initially, spam e-mails contained only textual messages which were easily detected by the ...

Personalised, Collaborative Spam Filtering

The state of the art sees content-based filters tending towards collaborative filters, whereby email is filtered at the MTA with users feeding information back about false positives and negatives. While this improves the ability of the filter to track concept drift in spam over time, such approaches make assumptions implicit in centralised spam filtering, such as that all users consider the sam...
