چکیده

Introduction Different kinds of tokamak experiments have been done where the plasma rotates mainly in the toroidal direction. Rotation has been induced by e.g. neutral beam injection (NBI). Furthermore, in astrophysics the plasma in accretion disks also rotates mainly in the toroidal direction. We present the newly developed spectral code PHOENIX which makes use of the JacobiDavidson subspace iteration method [1] for complex eigenvalue computations. This code is able to take the toroidal and poloidal rotation of the plasma equilibrium into account for its linear wave and instability diagnostics. Test cases of this code are presented and compared with other existing codes, like CASTOR [3], ERATO, and PEST-1. Furthermore, recent and new results are presented with particular emphasis on MHD spectra for stationary tokamak equilibria. These equilibria include purely toroidal flow or toroidal and poloidal flow.

Laboratory investigations of space-relevant, self-organizing MHD plasmas

Pulsed power technology is used to produce transient MHD-regime plasmas having topology and dynamical behavior similar to solar and astrophysical plasmas. These plasmas are not exact scale models, but exhibit many behaviors similar to actual solar and astrophysical plasmas, for example, coUimation, kinking, and jet motion. These plasmas can also display an interaction between MHD-dynamics and n...

Colloquium: Magnetohydrodynamic turbulence and time scales in astrophysical and space plasmas

Magnetohydrodynamic sMHDd turbulence has been employed as a physical model for a wide range of applications in astrophysical and space plasma physics. This Colloquium reviews fundamental aspects of MHD turbulence, including spectral energy transfer, nonlocality, and anisotropy, each of which is related to the multiplicity of dynamical time scales that may be present. These basic issues are disc...

Relativistic magnetohydrodynamics

The lowest-order description of a magnetized plasma is given by magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). However, many astrophysical plasmas (as well as some laboratory plasmas) are relativistic, in that either the thermal speed or the fluid flow speed approaches the speed of light, and conventional MHD is not consistent with special relativity. Beginning with exact laws of motion, this work derives a gener...

Modulational instability of dust ion acoustic waves in astrophysical dusty plasmas with non thermal electrons

Propagation of dust ion acoustic waves in plasmas composed of nonthermal distributed electrons and stationary dust particles is investigated. Nonlinear Schrdinger equation is derived to describe small amplitude waves, using the reduction perturbation technique. Modulation instability of dust ion acoustic waves is analysed for this system. Parametric investigation indicates that growth rate of...

Nanofluid Condensation and MHD Flow Modeling over Rotating Plates Using Least Square Method (LSM)

In this study, nanofluid condensation and MHD flow analysis over an inclined and rotating plate are investigated respectively using Least Square Method (LSM) and numerical method. After presenting the governing equations and solving them by LSM, the accuracy of results is examined by the fourth order Runge-Kutta numerical method. For condensation, modeling results show that the condensate f...
