Hard diffraction in hadron-hadron interactions and in photoproduction.

چکیده
Hard single diffractive processes are studied within the framework of the triple–Pomeron approximation. Using a Pomeron structure function motivated by Regge–theory we obtain parton distribution functions which do not obey momentum sum rule. Based on Regge– factorization cross sections for hard diffraction are calculated. Furthermore, the model is applied to hard diffractive particle production in photoproduction and in pp̄ interactions.

Secondary Particles Produced by Hadron Therapy
Introduction Use of hadron therapy as an advanced radiotherapy technique is increasing. In this method, secondary particles are produced through primary beam interactions with the beam-transport system and the patient’s body. In this study, Monte Carlo simulations were employed to determine the dose of produced secondary particles, particularly neutrons during treatment. Materials and Methods I...
متن کاملPHOTOPRODUCTION OFF NUCLEI AND POINT-LIKE PHOTON INTERACTIONS Part II: Particle Production
High energy multiparticle photoproduction off nuclear targets is studied. The photon is assumed to interact in direct scattering processes or as a resolved qq̄-state according to the Generalized Vector Dominance Model. In the description of resolved interactions multiple soft and hard processes in each qq̄-nucleon interaction are taken into consideration. The model, formulated within the framewor...
متن کاملHadron Therapy in Iran: Patient Indication Estimation and Challenges Ahead
Introduction: Radiotherapy with heavy charged particles such as protons and carbon ions (hadron therapy) has been recognized as an advanced technique for the treatment of various cancers. For some indications such as pediatric and radio-resistant tumors, it is considered the preferred method. However, despite its remarkable benefits, development of hadron therapy centers in the...
متن کاملHard Diffraction and Central Diffraction in Hadron–hadron and Photon–hadron Collisions∗
Hadron production in single and central diffraction dissociation is studied in a model which includes soft hadron interaction as controlled by a supercritical pomeron parametrization and hard diffraction. Hard diffraction is described using leading-order QCD matrix elements together with the parton distributions for the proton, the less well known photon parton densities and a conjectured parto...
متن کاملTheory of Hard Diffraction and Rapidity Gaps
In this talk we review the models describing the hard diffractive production of jets or more generally high-mass states in presence of rapidity gaps in hadron-hadron and lepton-hadron collisions. By rapidity gaps we mean regions on the lego plot in (pseudo)-rapidity and azimuthal angle where no hadrons are produced, between the jet(s) and an elastically scattered hadron (single hard diffraction...
