چکیده

ÐIt is well-known that the problem of matching two relational structures can be posed as an equivalent problem of finding a maximal clique in a (derived) aassociation graph.o However, it is not clear how to apply this approach to computer vision problems where the graphs are hierarchically organized, i.e., are trees, since maximal cliques are not constrained to preserve the partial order. Here, we provide a solution to the problem of matching two trees by constructing the association graph using the graph-theoretic concept of connectivity. We prove that, in the new formulation, there is a one-to-one correspondence between maximal cliques and maximal subtree isomorphisms. This allows us to cast the tree matching problem as an indefinite quadratic program using the MotzkinStraus theorem, and we use areplicatoro dynamical systems developed in theoretical biology to solve it. Such continuous solutions to discrete problems are attractive because they can motivate analog and biological implementations. The framework is also extended to the matching of attributed trees by using weighted association graphs. We illustrate the power of the approach by matching articulated and deformed shapes described by shock trees. Matching Integral Graphs of Small Order

In this paper, we study matching integral graphs of small order. A graph is called matching integral if the zeros of its matching polynomial are all integers. Matching integral graphs were first studied by Akbari, Khalashi, etc. They characterized all traceable graphs which are matching integral. They studied matching integral regular graphs. Furthermore, it has been shown that there is no matc...

Fast Matching of Hierarchical Attributed Relational Graphs for an Application to Similarity-Based Image Retrieval

This paper describes the fast matching of hierarchical attributed relational graphs with the aim of applying the method to similarity-based image retrieval. Best-first search algorithm, admissible heuristic function, and maximum permissible cost are proposed to speed up the computation of graph matching. By means of these methods, the average computation time of graph matching speeds up about t...

Hierarchical Plausibility-Graphs for Symbol Spotting in Graphical Documents

Graph representation of graphical documents often suffers from noise viz. spurious nodes and spurios edges of graph and their discontinuity etc. In general these errors occur during the low-level image processing viz. binarization, skeletonization, vectorization etc. Hierarchical graph representation is a nice and efficient way to solve this kind of problem by hierarchically merging node-node a...

The Role of Higher-Order Constructs in the Inexact Matching of Semantic Graphs

Inexact pattern matching using semantic graphs has a wideranging use in AI systems, particularly in machine vision, case-based reasoning, and, recently, in intelligence analysis applications. While much previous work in the area has focused on matching simple flat graphs, there is increasing need for and use of complex graphical patterns with higher-order constructs—hierarchical graphs, cardina...
