In a patient with migraine, symptoms of autonomic disturbance can be observed, associated with or without migraine attack, such as blood flow in the cranial artery, Horner’s syndrome, etc. However, there is some controversy in the results of various studies on the autonomic nervous system. Abnormalities in the sympathetic nervous system have been fairly well documented in migraineurs during the headache-free phase, such as pupillary sympathetic hypofunction (Fanciullacci, 1979; Herman, 1983; Takeshima et al., 1987a), orthostatic hypotension (Gotoh et al., 1984; HavankaA 48-Hour Holter ECG Study in Migraineurs during Usual Daily Activities

Intermittent short ECG recording is more effective than 24-hour Holter ECG in detection of arrhythmias
BACKGROUND Many patients report symptoms of palpitations or dizziness/presyncope. These patients are often referred for 24-hour Holter ECG, although the sensitivity for detecting relevant arrhythmias is comparatively low. Intermittent short ECG recording over a longer time period might be a convenient and more sensitive alternative. The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of 24-h...
متن کاملMethods for Ambulatory Arrhythmia Monitoring A Comparison Study of Holter Monitor and Chest Strap ECG A Prospective Pilot Study
Background Cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation (AF), are a common cause for seeking medical care. AF has many causes; where valvular disease, hypertension, heart failure and diabetes mellitus are among the most common ones. The golden standard for arrhythmia monitoring is a 24or 48-hours Holter monitor. The aim with this paper was to compare the Holter monitor with chest strap EC...
متن کاملResponse to letter regarding article, "Embolic stroke of undetermined source in the athens stroke registry: a descriptive analysis".
As it is mentioned in our article, 142 (51.6%) patients with Embolic Stroke of Undetermined Source (ESUS) had a 24-hour ambulatory Holter monitoring, whereas 195 (70.9%) ESUS patients had continuous electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring for 1 week or until discharge from the stroke unit. For the latter patients, continuous ECG monitoring was observed by the trained nurse personnel of the acute ...
متن کاملDetection of paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in acute stroke patients.
BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a frequent cause of stroke, but detecting paroxysmal AF (pAF) poses a challenge. We investigated whether continuous bedside ECG monitoring in a stroke unit detects pAF more sensitively than 24-hour Holter ECG, and tested whether examining RR interval dynamics on short-term ECG recordings using an automated screening algorithm (ASA) for pAF detection is a u...
متن کاملEvaluation of the cardiovascular system in patients with juvenile dermatomyositis
Methods 8 patients at average age 11,12 (range 7 – 18) years, 3 girls and 5 boys with diagnosed JDM, all during treatment were included in the study. An average duration of illness at the time of study was 3,25 ± 1,83 years. Disease activity and circulatory system were assessed by clinical examination. ECG, echocardiography and 24 hour ECG Holter Monitoring were performed and analysed. Disease ...
