Array coil signal-to-noise ratio measurement: a comparison of methods
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR = η/σ) is a key image quality metric but is not always straightforward to evaluate due to the difficulties in accurately estimating the noise level in an image. There are multiple approaches, using a single image, more than one image and noise-only acquisitions. Previous work has compared several methods but not included the noise-only methods. The aim of this phantom study was to compare a wider range of SNR measurement methods.

Non-uniformity of Clinical Head, Head and Neck, and Body Coils in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Introduction Signal intensity uniformity in a magnetic resonance (MR) image indicates how well the MR imaging (MRI) system represents an object. One of the major sources of image non-uniformity in high-field MRI scanners is inhomogeneity of radio-frequency coil. The aim of this study was to investigate non-uniformity in head, head and neck, and body coils and compare the obtained results to det...
متن کاملTDL-based Wideband Beamforming for Radio Sources Close to the Array Endfire
Uniform linear array (ULA)-based tapped-delay line (TDL) structure has good performance metrics when the signal sources are located at the middle angles. It offers poor performance when the signal sources are close to the array endfire. In this paper, a new approach is proposed which offers higher performance and desired beamforming on TDL structure when the wideband uncorrelated radio sources ...
متن کاملA 3 T sodium and proton composite array breast coil.
PURPOSE The objective of this study was to determine whether a sodium phased array would improve sodium breast MRI at 3 T. The secondary objective was to create acceptable proton images with the sodium phased array in place. METHODS A novel composite array for combined proton/sodium 3 T breast MRI is compared with a coil with a single proton and sodium channel. The composite array consists of...
متن کاملDesigning and Fabrication of a New Radiofrequency Planar microcoil for mini-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance
Introduction Radiofrequency planar microcoils are used to increase the resolution of magnetic resonance images of small samples. In this study, we aimed to design and fabricate a spiral planar microcoil constructed on a double-sided printed circuit board (PCB). It has four rings with an internal diameter of 241 microns tuned and matched at 63.8 MHz. Materials and Methods To achieve the maximum ...
متن کاملIn vivo prostate magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy at 3 Tesla using a transceive pelvic phased array coil: preliminary results.
Magnetic resonance (MR) systems operating at 3 Telsa (T) and above have demonstrated considerable potential in human studies, offering improved signal-to-noise ratio and spectral resolution. However, because of radiofrequency limitations and concerns, and the lack of large volume body coils, most studies have been limited to the head. In this study we describe the design and construction of a t...
