Recovery from Inconsistency in Incomplete Relations

چکیده

It is not always possible to avoid inconsistency of a set of constraints in a database, for example in a legacy database where we are given an out of date set of constraints which may have changed due to maintenance. Thus we need some mechanism to reassess the set of constraints in order to recover from this inconsistency. We tackle this problem concentrating on the situation when the constraints are a set of functional dependencies (FDs) and the database may be incomplete. The approach we take to alleviate this problem is to consider as the correct semantics the maximally consistent subsets of the given set of FDs in the incomplete relation. We show how to compute all the maximally consistent subsets, although, in general, this computation is shown to be intractable. We then investigate the dependency inference problem for FDs in incomplete relations, which can be viewed as a data mining application of our approach to dealing with inconsistency. Finally, we show that Lien and Atzeni's axiomatisation of FDs in incomplete relations can be given semantics in terms of a reened family of maximally consistent sets of FDs.

INCOMPLETE INTERVAL-VALUED HESITANT FUZZY PREFERENCE RELATIONS IN DECISION MAKING

In this article, we propose a method to deal with incomplete interval-valuedhesitant fuzzy preference relations. For this purpose, an additivetransitivity inspired technique for interval-valued hesitant fuzzypreference relations is formulated which assists in estimating missingpreferences. First of all, we introduce a condition for decision makersproviding incomplete information. Decision maker...

Non-deterministic Distance Semantics for Handling Incomplete and Inconsistent Data

We introduce a modular framework for formalizing reasoning with incomplete and inconsistent information. This framework is composed of non-deterministic semantic structures and distance-based considerations. The combination of these two principles leads to a variety of entailment relations that can be used for reasoning about nondeterministic phenomena and are inconsistency-tolerant. We investi...

Incomplete preference relations: An upper bound condition

In decision making, consistency in fuzzy preference relations is associated with the study of transitivity property. While using additive consistency property to complete incomplete preference relations, the preference values found may lie outside the interval [0, 1] or the resultant relation may itself be inconsistent. This paper proposes a method that avoids inconsistency and completes an inc...

A Model Constructed Based on Multi-Criteria Decision Making With Incomplete Linguistic Preference Relations

This study uses three types of pairwise comparisons algorithm which are horizontal vertical and oblique to construct Multi-Criteria Decision Making with Incomplete Linguistic Preference Relations Model. The use of pairwise comparisons will not produce the problem of inconsistency, which even allows every decision expert to choose an explicit criterion or alternative for index unrestrictedly. Wh...

An interval-valued intuitionistic fuzzy multiattribute group decision making framework with incomplete preference over alternatives

10 This article proposes a framework to handle multiattribute group decision making 11 problems with incomplete pairwise comparison preference over decision alternatives 12 where qualitative and quantitative attribute values are furnished as linguistic variables 13 and crisp numbers, respectively. Attribute assessments are then converted to interval14 valued intuitionistic fuzzy numbers (IVIFNs...
