Characterizing bar structures : application to NGC 1300 , NGC 7479 and NGC 7723

چکیده
Detailed surface photometry has been carried out for three barred galaxies with use of high resolution CCD broadband images in the B, V and I bands. Using azimuthal luminosity profiles and their decomposition into Fourier Series, the structural parameters (length and strength) of the bars in the three galaxies have been obtained. We have also inferred the corotation radii (CR) using information available in the B − I and B−V colour index profiles. The regions selected for the CR were the ends of the bars, or a little further out and with an older stellar population than the su rrounding regions. The resulting values, RCR ∼ 100′′±10′′ for NGC 1300, RCR ∼ 63′′ for NGC 7479 and RCR ∼ 23′′ for NGC 7723, are in agreement with those previously reported in the literature. This demonstrates the utility of accurate photometry for this type of observation.

Radio Jet in Ngc 7479
The barred galaxy NGC 7479 hosts a remarkable jet-like radio continuum feature: bright, 12-kpc long in projection, and hosting an aligned magnetic field. The degree of polarization is 6%–8% along the jet, and remarkably constant, which is consistent with helical field models. The radio brightness of the jet suggests strong interaction with the ISM and hence a location near the disk plane. We ob...

متن کاملThe 3 . 4 micron absorption feature towards three obscured active galactic nuclei
The results of 3–4 μm spectroscopy towards the nuclei of NGC 3094, NGC 7172, and NGC 7479 are reported. In ground-based 8–13 μm spectra, all the sources have strong absorption-like features at ∼10 μm, but they do not have detectable polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) emission features. The 3.4 μm carbonaceous dust absorption features are detected towards all nuclei. NGC 3094 shows a detectab...

We report on the 2. 5 (400 pc) resolution CO (J = 1 → 0) observations covering the whole length of the bar in the strongly barred late-type spiral galaxy NGC 7479. CO emission is detected only along a dust lane that traverses the whole length of the bar, including the nucleus. The emission is strongest in the nucleus. The distribution of emission is clumpy along the bar outside the nucleus, and...
متن کاملBulges of Two Barred Galaxies : Ngc 3412 and Ngc 3941
We have conducted near-infrared (Jand H-band) surface photometry for two early type barred galaxies, NGC 3412 and NGC 3941. The bulges of NGC 3412 and NGC 3941 show isophotal twists which indicate that they are triaxial. NGC 3412 has a very short bar and its bulge is more centrally concentrated than that of NGC 3941. The unusually short bar and the centrally concentrated triaxial bulge of NGC 3...
