چکیده

We propose a possible mechanism of pseudo spin gap anomaly(PSGA) in magnetically coupled bi-layer cuprates without any fermion pairing instability. In our proposal PSGA does not necessarily require the spin-charge separation or the breakdown of the Fermi liquid description of a normal state of the cuprate superconductor. The low energy magnetic excitations are mainly governed by the itinerant nature of the intra-layer system and the inter-layer antiferromagnetic coupling. No matter how weak the bare inter-layer coupling is, it can be dramatically enhanced due to the intra-layer spin fluctuations. As the temperature decreases near the antiferromagnetic phase boundary the strongly enhanced inter-layer correlation induces the inter-layer particle-hole exchange scattering processes that tend to enhance the inter-layer spin singlet formation and kill the triplet formation. We propose that the coupling of spin fluctuations on the adjacend layers via the strong repulsive interaction between parallel spins travelling on each layer give rise to the dynamical screening effects. As a result the low energy part of the spin excitation spectrum is strongly suppressed as the temperature decreases near the antiferromagnetic phase boundary. We ascribe PSGA to this dynamical screening effects.

We analyze the phase diagram of single and bi-layer cuprates using the gaugefield description of the t-J model. For T > TBE the in-plane fermion-pairing order parameter ∆‖ is eliminated by gauge field fluctuations, leading us to predict the absence of a spin-gap phase in single-layer cuprates. For bi-layer cuprates the inter-layer order parameter ∆⊥ is enhanced by spin correlations, and is less...

Multilayer enzyme-coupled magnetic nanoparticles as efficient, reusable biocatalysts and biosensors.

Herein we report the development of a highly active, magnetically retrievable and reusable biocatalyst using multilayer enzyme coupled-magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) prepared by layer-by-layer assembly using two well-studied enzymes, horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and glucose oxidase (GOX), as a model enzyme system. We show that by combining the use of a biocompatible linker as well as biospecific...

Charge Stripes and Antiferromagnetism in Insulating Nickelates and Superconducting Cuprates

Neutron and X-ray scattering studies have provided strong evidence for coupled spatial modulations of charge and spin densities in layered nickelates and cuprates. The accumulated results for La2−xSrxNiO4+δ are consistent with the strongly-modulated topological-stripe concept. Clues from Nd-doped La2−xSrxCuO4 suggest similar behavior for the cuprates. The experimental results are summarized, an...

Magnetically tunable broadband transmission through a single small aperture

Extraordinary transmission through a small aperture is of great interest. However, it faces a limitation that most of approaches can not realize the tunable transmission property, which is not benefit for the miniaturization of the microwave system. Here, we demonstrate a magnetically tunable broadband transmission through a small aperture. By placing two ferrite rods symmetrically on both side...

Role of Symmetry in Raman Spectroscopy of Unconventional Superconductors

The role of symmetry of the inelastic light scattering amplitude, the superconducting energy gap, and the underlying Fermi surface manifold on the Raman spectra of unconventional superconductors is discussed in detail. Particular emphasis is placed on both single and bi-layer superconductors. It is found that the B1g channel may be the most sensitive to doping due to the role of the Van Hove si...
