چکیده

This paper presents a control strategy for an automotive selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system, for which the feedback is based on a NOx sensor measurement. This NOx sensor is cross-sensitive to NH3, which is critical for control purposes: a study of the closed-loop dynamics is performed which permits to calibrate the control strategy. Experimental results illustrate the performance of the proposed approach.

A New Dynamic Injection System of Urea-Water Solution for a Vehicular Select Catalyst Reduction System

Since the Euro-III standard was adopted, the main methods to inhibit NOx production in diesel engines are exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) and select catalyst reduction (SCR). On these methods SCR offers great fuel economy, so it has received wide attention. However, there also exists a trade-off law between NOx conversion efficiency and NH3 slip under dynamic conditions. To inhibit NH3 slip wit...

Studies of MISiC-FET sensors for car exhaust gas monitoring

The increasing size of the car fleet makes it important to find ways of lowering the amounts of pollutants from each individual diesel or gasoline engine to almost zero levels. The pollutants from these engines predominantly originate from emissions at cold start, in the case when gasoline is utilized, and high NOx emissions and particulates from diesel engines. The cold start emissions from ga...

An Extended Kalman Filter for NOx Sensor Ammonia Cross-Sensitivity Elimination in Selective Catalytic Reduction Applications

Vehicle NOx emission regulations are becoming more and more stringent worldwide. A selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system which uses ammonia as the reductant to reduce tailpipe NOx emissions is widely adopted by Diesel engine applications. For SCR control, a NOx sensor is commonly used to monitor the emissions, however it has been discovered that NOx sensors typically are cross-sensitive to...

Improving the Diagnosis Accuracy of Hydrothermal Aging Degree of V2O5/WO3–TiO2 Catalyst in SCR Control System Using an GS–PSO–SVM Algorithm

Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is one of the most effective technologies used for eliminating NOx from diesel engines. This paper presents a novel method based on a support vector machine (SVM) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) with grid search (GS) to diagnose the degree of aging of the V2O5/WO3–TiO2 catalyst in the SCR system. This study shows the aging effect on the performance of a...

NOx removal over a double bed NSR-SCR reactor configuration

Introduction NOx Storage-Reduction (NSR) catalytic systems and urea-SCR are both considered viable solutions for the NOx removal under lean conditions. In NSR systems (e.g. PtBa/Al2O3) the removal of NOx is realized under cyclic conditions, by alternating long lean periods during which NOx are adsorbed on the catalyst with short excursions under rich conditions during which the stored NOx are r...
