Design and Implementation of Parallel Java with Global Object Space

چکیده
Java 1 has emerged as a dominant language that could eventually replace C++. It is believed that using Java would boost programmer productivity because of its well-thought design, independence from backward-compatibility with C, absence of arbitrary pointers, etc. We present the design and implementation of a parallel extension to Java. The parallel extension provides dynamic creation of remote objects with load balancing, and object groups. The language constructs are based on those of Charm+++1]. The parallel Java extension is implemented using the Conversee2] interoperabil-ity framework, which makes it possible to integrate parallel libraries written in Java with modules in other parallel languages in a single application.

Efficient Global Object Space Support for Distributed JVM on Cluster
We present the design of a global object space in a distributed Java Virtual Machine that supports parallel execution of a multi-threaded Java program on a cluster of computers. The global object space virtualizes a single Java object heap across machine boundaries to facilitate transparent object accesses. Based on the object connectivity information that is available at runtime, the object re...
متن کاملParallel Languages and Compilers: Perspective From the Titanium Experience
We describe the rationale behind the design of key features of Titanium—an explicitly parallel dialect of Java for high-performance scientific programming—and our experiences in building applications with the language. Specifically, we address Titanium’s Partitioned Global Address Space model, SPMD parallelism support, multi-dimensional arrays and arrayindex calculus, memory management, immutab...
متن کاملOn the design of global object space for efficient multi-threading Java computing on clusters
The popularity of Java and recent advances in compilation and execution technology for Java are making the language one of the preferred ones in the field of high-performance scientific and engineering computing. A distributed Java Virtual Machine supports transparent parallel execution of multi-threaded Java programs on a cluster of computers. It provides an alternative platform for high-perfo...
متن کاملParallel Spatial Pyramid Match Kernel Algorithm for Object Recognition using a Cluster of Computers
This paper parallelizes the spatial pyramid match kernel (SPK) implementation. SPK is one of the most usable kernel methods, along with support vector machine classifier, with high accuracy in object recognition. MATLAB parallel computing toolbox has been used to parallelize SPK. In this implementation, MATLAB Message Passing Interface (MPI) functions and features included in the toolbox help u...
متن کاملMultiJav: A Distributed Shared Memory System Based on Multiple Java Virtual Machines
Current distributed shared memory systems suuer from portability problems which hinder popularity. We present a distributed shared memory system as a distributed implementation of the Java Virtual Machine. The proposed system is unique in that it provides a user-friendly, exible programming model based on pure Java. It is an object-based memory system which maintains the synchronization scope a...
