چکیده

Background Allergy is a critical problem of public health in developed countries. Anaphylaxis is a rapid allergic response with symptoms such as urticarial, itching, diarrhea, and even death. Since allergy is caused by the failure of tolerance induction to exogenous antigens, its establishment of tolerance is a fundamental therapy for allergic diseases. Oral tolerance is a physiological way to actively induce unresponsiveness to food antigens. However, oral immunotherapy using antigens occasionally fails to induce complete tolerance in patients that hinder the development of the therapy.

Rush specific oral tolerance induction in school-age children with severe egg allergy: one year follow up.

BACKGROUND At present, the only treatment for food allergy is to avoid the allergy-causing food. Some trials of specific oral tolerance induction (SOTI) have been carried out, but the rate of tolerance induction was low despite long treatment periods, at least 3 months to several years. A new type of treatment is long desired. The objectives of this study are to perform our rush SOTI for school...

Specific Oral Tolerance Induction Using IFN-Gamma in 2 Cases of Food-Dependent Exercise-Induced Anaphylaxis

Anaphylaxis induced by exercise after the intake of certain foods is referred to as food-dependent exercise-induced anaphylaxis (FDEIA). Only the preventive medication such as oral sodium cromoglycate and oral combined cetirizine-montelukast was tried in FDEIA. Specific oral tolerance induction (SOTI) using IFN-gamma was tried in 2 cases of FDEIA for wheat. Merely, exercise accompanied every tr...

Protein kinase CK2/PTEN pathway plays a key role in platelet-activating factor-mediated murine anaphylactic shock.

Platelet-activating factor (PAF) is a major mediator in the induction of fatal hypovolemic shock in murine anaphylaxis. This PAF-mediated effect has been reported to be associated with PI3K/Akt-dependent eNOS-derived NO. The phosphatase and tensin homolog deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) is phosphatidylinositol phosphate phosphatase, which negatively controls PI3K by dephosphorylating the signal...

Severe anaphylaxis to sheep's milk cheese in a child desensitized to cow's milk through specific oral tolerance induction.

Specific oral tolerance induction to food (SOTI) is a new promising treatmentfor persistent IgE-mediatedfood allergy. Our paper reports a case of a 5-year-old girl with cow's milk allergy, who developed severe anaphylaxis after the ingestion of a croissant containing sheep's milk ricotta cheese, even though she had been previously desensitized to cow's milk through SOTI. The sheep's milk specif...

Targeted Disruption of the Leukotriene B4Receptor in Mice Reveals Its Role in Inflammation and Platelet-Activating Factor–Induced Anaphylaxis

Leukotrienes are derived from arachidonic acid and serve as mediators of inflammation and immediate hypersensitivity. Leukotriene B(4) (LTB(4)) and leukotriene C(4) (LTC(4)) act through G protein-coupled receptors LTB(4) receptor (BLTR) and Cys-LTR, respectively. To investigate the physiological role of BLTR, we produced mice with a targeted disruption of the BLTR gene. Mice deficient for BLTR ...
