چکیده

Methods for utterance veriication (UV) and their integration into statistical language modeling and spoken language understanding formalisms for a large vocabulary spoken understanding system are presented. The paper consists of three parts. First, a set of acoustic likelihood ratio based utterance veriication techniques are described and applied to the problem of rejecting portions of a hypothesized word string that may have been incorrectly decoded by a large vocabulary continuous speech recognizer. Second, a procedure for integrating the acoustic level conndence measures with the statistical language model is described. Finally, the eeect of integrating acoustic level conndence into the spoken language understanding unit (SLU) in a call{ type classiication task is discussed. These techniques were evaluated on utterances collected from a highly unconstrained call routing task performed over the telephone network. They have been evaluated in terms of their ability to classify utterances into a set of fteen semantic actions corresponding to call{types that are accepted by the application.

Integration of phonetic and prosodic information for robust utterance verification - Vision, Image and Signal Processing, IEE Proceedings-

Mandarin speech is known for its tonal charactcristic, and prosodic information plays an important role in Mandarin speech recognition. Driven by this propcrty, phonetic and prosodic information are integrated and used for Mandarin telephone speech keyword spotting. A two-stage strategy, with recognition followed by verification, is adopted. For keyword recognition, 132 subsyllable models, two ...

A novel technique for the combination of utterance and speaker verification systems in a text-dependent speaker verification task

In this paper we present a novel technique for combining a Speaker Verification System with an Utterance Verification System in a Speaker Authentication system over the telephone. Speaker Verification consists in accepting or rejecting the claimed identity of a speaker by processing samples of his/her voice. Usually, these systems are based on HMM's that try to represent the characteristics of ...

Short Utterance Variance Modelling and Utterance Partitioning for PLDA Speaker Verification

This paper analyses the short utterance probabilistic linear discriminant analysis (PLDA) speaker verification with utterance partitioning and short utterance variance (SUV) modelling approaches. Experimental studies have found that instead of using single long-utterance as enrolment data, if long enrolledutterance is partitioned into multiple short utterances and average of short utterance i-v...

Subword-based minimum verification error (SB-MVE) training for task independent utterance verification

In this paper we formulate a training framework and present a method for task independent utterance verification. Verification-specific HMMs are defined and discriminatively trained using minimum verification error training. Task independence is accomplished by performing the verification on the subword level and training the verification models using a general phonetically balanced database th...
