J/Ψ suppressions in Relativistic Heavy-ion collisions

چکیده
We study J/ψ survival probability, using short-distance QCD, in an equilibrating parton gas. The evolution of the system is determined within the Parton Cascade Model. Due to the formation of a large number of partons within this model, a large fraction of J/ψ are found to be suppressed. In a thermal equilibrating plasma this suppression is found to be almost 95 percent, while it is around 90 percent in a chemically equilibrating plasma.

J/Ψ suppressions in a thermally equilibrating quark-gluon plasma at RHIC
We estimate the survival probability of J/ψ in relativistic heavy-ion collisions, using both short-distance QCD and nuclear absorption mechanism. The suppression is found to be almost 100 percent for a thermally equilibrating quark-gluon plasma. The measurement of such a huge suppression of J/ψ may suggest the existence of a deconfined partonic medium, possibly a thermalised quark-gluon plasma,...
متن کاملCharmonium production from the hadronic phase
Charmonium production from the hadron gas formed in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions is studied. Using the J/ψ-hadron absorption cross section determined from the nonperturbative quark-exchange model, which has a peak value similar to that used in the comover model for J/ψ suppression and a thermally averaged value consistent from that extracted from J/ψ data in heavy-ion collisions, we ...
متن کاملHeavy Quarkonium Dissociation Cross Sections in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions
Many of the hadron-hadron cross sections required for the study of the dynamics of matter produced in relativistic heavy-ion collisions can be calculated using the quark-interchange model. Here we evaluate the low-energy dissociation cross sections of J/ψ, ψ′, χ, Υ, and Υ′ in collision with π, ρ, and K, which are important for the interpretation of heavy-quarkonium suppression as a signature fo...

We study dilepton production from a thermally equilibrating quark-gluon plasma expected to be formed in ultra relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The pre-equilibrium dynamics of quark-gluon plasma is studied within the color flux-tube model by solving non-abelian relativistic transport equations. This dilepton rate crucially depends on the collision time of the plasma. The results are compared w...
متن کاملA QCD Sum Rule Approach to the Charmonium - Pion Cross Section
In relativistic heavy ion collisions J/ψ suppression has been recognized as an important tool to identify the possible phase transition to quark-gluon plasma (QGP). Matsui and Satz [1] predicted that in presence of quark-gluon plasma, binding of a cc̄ pair into a J/ψ meson will be hindered, leading to the so called J/ψ suppression in heavy ion collisions. Over the years several experiments measu...
