چکیده

Nuclear Membrane, Insoluble Membrane Residue, G 1 Phase of Cell Cycle, a Mating Pheromone, Anti-Lamine Antibodies The Triton X-100 and High salt resistant residue of the nuclear envelope of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells arrested in the G 1 phase of cell cycle with a mating pheromone was isolated. It showed the same electrophoretic protein pattern as the insoluble residue isolated from log-phase cells. Examination of nitrocellulose blots of nuclear protein fractions with antiserum raised against a vertebrate lamin failed to show any immunological cross-reaction.

The Triton X-100 and high salt resistant residue of Saccharomyces cerevisiae nuclear membranes.

Saccharomyces cerevisiae nuclear membranes were prepared from isolated nuclei by digesting chromatin with deoxyribonuclease after an initial treatment of nuclei with very diluted buffers. When the nuclear membranes were treated with 5% Triton X-100 and 1M NaCl an insoluble fibrous net was obtained which consisted mainly of protein with Mr values of 85 000, 48 000, 45 000, 39 000 and 31 000. Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles: Another honor for the yeast model Saccharomyces cerevisiae

Background and Purpose: Microorganism-based synthesis of nanostructures has recently been noted as a green method for the sustainable development of nanotechnology. Nowadays, there have been numerous studies on the emerging resistant pathogenic bacteria and fungal isolates, the probable inability of bacteria and fungi to develop resistance against silver nanoparticles’ (SNPs) antibacte...

Lipid rafts in Cryptococcus neoformans concentrate the virulence determinants phospholipase B1 and Cu/Zn superoxide dismutase.

Lipid rafts have been identified in the membranes of mammalian cells, the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and the pathogenic fungus Candida albicans. Formed by a lateral association of sphingolipids and sterols, rafts concentrate proteins carrying a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchor. We report the isolation of membranes with the characteristics of rafts from the fungal pathogen Cryptoco...

A membrane cytoskeleton from Dictyostelium discoideum. I. Identification and partial characterization of an actin-binding activity

Dictyostelium discoideum plasma membranes isolated by each of three procedures bind F-actin. The interactions between these membranes and actin are examined by a novel application of falling ball viscometry. Treating the membranes as multivalent actin-binding particles analogous to divalent actin-gelation factors, we observe large increases in viscosity (actin cross-linking) when membranes of d...

Phosphorylation of Dgk1 Diacylglycerol Kinase by Casein Kinase II Regulates Phosphatidic Acid Production in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.

In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Dgk1 diacylglycerol (DAG) kinase catalyzes the CTP-dependent phosphorylation of DAG to form phosphatidic acid (PA). The enzyme in conjunction with Pah1 PA phosphatase controls the levels of PA and DAG for the synthesis of triacylglycerol and membrane phospholipids, the growth of the nuclear/endoplasmic reticulum membrane, and the formation of lipid droplet...
