(J Prosthet Dent 2009;101:73-74) The treatment of choice for a partially edentulous patient is placement of a fixed partial denture supported by either teeth or implants.1 However, when implants are contraindicated or when the remaining abutment teeth cannot support a fixed prosthesis, a removable partial denture (RPD) may be an alternative.2 In designing an RPD, selecting the most appropriate path of insertion to promote ease of placement, esthetics, retention, stability, and support is a challenging aspect for many clinicians.3 Despite the fact that several different techniques for transferring the path of insertion intraorally have been described, this crucial step remains technically demanding.4,5 This article describes a method for making an index to transfer the selected path of insertion from the diagnostic cast intraorally. This simple technique assists the dentist to more ideally modify the contours of each abutment tooth.

Case Report: Implant-Supported Removable Partial Denture In A Mandibular Kennedy CL II: A Clinical Report
Abstract The implant-supported removable partial dentures should be an alternative to conventional removable partial dentures and implant-supported fixed partial prostheses when the implant’s insertion is confined by bone height and thickness. Placing a single implant in the posterior region would modify the Kennedy Class II configuration to a Kennedy Class III and increase the stability a...
متن کاملRecording the Tilt of a Cast on a Surveyor
Some patients are not satisfied with removable partial dentures (RPDs), when it is not stable during mastication.A dental surveyor can be used to prevent problems related to production of RPDs. Determining the best path of insertion and removal is an initial and fundamental step in RDPs planning. The path of insertion record enables the technician to reproducing the cast in the same position on...
متن کاملDeveloping Occlusion in Removable Partial Denture Using Functionally Generated Path Technique
Providing harmonious group function occlusion in artificial teeth either in removable partial denture or fixed partial denture is a difficult task. Developing group function needs fully adjustable articulator, which is not possible in routine clinical practice. In such cases functionally generated path technique (FGP) is ideal. It is very simple if we do it in a precise and systemic method. Onl...
متن کاملStress Distribution in Natural Tooth and Implant Supported Removable Partial Denture with Different Attachment Types: A Photoelastic Analysis
Background and Aim: Different attachment designs have been developed to connect implant to natural teeth in partial dentures; however, adequate studies have not been performed to determine stress distribution patterns in these designs. The present study aimed to assess stress distribution patterns in natural tooth and implant supported removable partial denture with different attachment designs...
متن کاملA technique for assessing the fit of a removable partial denture framework on the patient and on the definitive cast.
The lack of fit of a removable partial denture has been reported as the most common problem in the treatment of patients with partial edentulism. The misfit could be a result of poor laboratory procedures, a distorted impression, or ridge remodeling after delivery. Evaluating the fit of a removable partial denture starts at the framework evaluation appointment. The evaluation consists of the fi...
