چکیده

There is a need for efficient communication protocols that allow the private and scalable deployment of RFID systems with a large number of tags. In this paper, we leverage the idea of using distributed, collaborative readers to identify RFID tags and propose a new probabilistic communication protocol for those readers to privately identify RFID tags more efficiently in terms of computational cost and bandwidth usage. Our protocol, which is based on hash-locks, allows readers to exchange information so as to reduce the amount of tag IDs stored in their caches. Consequently, our proposal improves the scalability of the system, and allows the easy management of large amounts of tags. We provide simulation results showing that our proposal is more efficient and flexible than previous ones in terms of computational cost and bandwidth usage. 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Predictive protocol for the scalable identification of RFID tags through collaborative readers

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a technology aimed at efficiently identifying products that has greatly influenced the manufacturing businesses in recent years. Although the RFID technology has been widely accepted by the manufacturing and retailing sectors, there are still many issues regarding its scalability, security and privacy. With regard to privacy, the sharing of identificatio...

افزایش سرعت شناسایی در سیستم‌های RFID

Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a new generation of automatic identification systems, based on wireless communication technology. In these systems all the tags using one communication channel to communicate with the reader. When two or more tags transmit their data to the reader simultaneously, their transmitted signals will collide. Resolving this collision has a direct impact on the ...

Game-Based Cryptanalysis of a Lightweight CRC-Based Authentication Protocol for EPC Tags

The term "Internet of Things (IoT)" expresses a huge network of smart and connected objects which can interact with other devices without our interposition. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a great technology and an interesting candidate to provide communications for IoT networks, but numerous security and privacy issues need to be considered. In this paper, we analyze the security and ...

Passive Attack Against the M2AP Mutual Authentication Protocol for RFID Tags

In this paper, we present a passive attack for finding out the secrets used in MAP (Minimalist Mutual Authentication Protocol), which is an authentication protocol between RFID tags and RFID readers. We describe an algorithm that breaks the protocol after eavesdropping a few consecutive rounds of communication. After two eavesdropped runs of the protocol, the attacker can learn the identificati...

Efficient tag detection in RFID systems

Recent technological advances have motivated large-scale deployment of RFID systems. However, a number of critical design issues relating to efficient detection of tags remain unresolved. In this paper, we address three important problems associated with tag detection in RFID systems: (i) accurately detecting RFID tags in the presence of reader interference (reader collision avoidance problem);...
