Camera Pose Estimation Using First-Order Curve Differential Geometry

چکیده
This paper considers and solves the problem of estimating camera pose given a pair of point-tangent correspondences between the 3D scene and the projected image. The problem arises when considering curve geometry as the basis of forming correspondences, computation of structure and calibration, which in its simplest form is a point augmented with the curve tangent. We show that while the standard resectioning problem is solved with a minimum of three points given the intrinsic parameters, when points are augmented with tangent information only two points are required, leading to substantial computational savings, e.g., when used as a minimal engine within a RANSAC strategy. In addition, computational algorithms are developed to find a practical and efficient solution which is shown to effectively recover camera pose using synthetic and realistic datasets. The resolution of this problem is intended as a basic building block of future curve-based structure from motion systems, allowing new views to be incrementally registered to a core set of views for which relative pose has already been computed.

متن کاملCamera Pose Estimation in Unknown Environments using a Sequence of Wide-Baseline Monocular Images
In this paper, a feature-based technique for the camera pose estimation in a sequence of wide-baseline images has been proposed. Camera pose estimation is an important issue in many computer vision and robotics applications, such as, augmented reality and visual SLAM. The proposed method can track captured images taken by hand-held camera in room-sized workspaces with maximum scene depth of 3-4...
متن کامل3D Camera Pose Estimation Using Line Correspondences and 1D Homographies
This paper describes a new method for matching line segments between two images in order to compute the relative camera pose. This approach improves the camera pose for images lacking stable point features but where straight line segments are available. The line matching algorithm is divided into two stages: At first, scale-invariant feature points along the lines are matched incorporating a on...
متن کاملJoint Camera Pose Estimation and 3D Human Pose Estimation in a Multi-camera Setup
In this paper we propose an approach to jointly perform camera pose estimation and human pose estimation from videos recorded by a set of cameras separated by wide baselines. Multi-camera pose estimation is very challenging in case of wide baselines or in general when patch-based feature correspondences are difficult to establish across images. For this reason, we propose to exploit the motion ...
متن کاملFull 6DOF Pose Estimation from Geo-Located Images
Estimating the external calibration – the pose – of a camera with respect to its environment is a fundamental task in Computer Vision (CV). In this paper, we propose a novel method for estimating the unknown 6DOF pose of a camera with known intrinsic parameters from epipolar geometry only. For a set of geo-located reference images, we assume the camera position but not the orientation to be kno...
