Mean-field and blocking effects on odd-even mass differences and rotational motion of nuclei
نویسندگان
چکیده
The odd-even differences of nuclear masses are strongly influenced by mean-field and odd-nucleon blocking effects. When such effects are taken into account, the determination of the pairing interaction strength needs to be modified, resulting in larger pairing gaps. This method leads to an improved description for both moments of inertia and backbending frequencies of rotational bands, with no additional parameters. @S0556-2813~99!50111-8#

The knowledge of nuclear reaction rates is important for studying energy production and nucleosynthesis, especially in reactions including nuclei far from stability line, which are not accessible experimentally so far and thus it is necessary to be able to predict reaction cross sections in low excitation energies. Nuclear level density is one of the important key quantities in many nuclear phy...
متن کاملSkyrme Mean-Field Study of Rotational Bands in Transfermium Isotopes
Self-consistent mean field calculations with the SLy4 interaction and a densitydependent pairing force are presented for nuclei in the Nobelium mass region. Predicted quasi-particle spectra are compared with experiment for the heaviest known odd N and odd Z nuclei. Spectra and rotational bands are presented for nuclei around 252,4No for which experiments are either planned or already running.
متن کاملSTUDY OF NUCLEAR LEVEL DENSITY AND SPIN CUT-OFF FACTORS
Nuclear level densities and spin cut-off factors have been deduced for nuclei in the mass region 24‹A‹63,from a microscopic theory, which includes nuclear pairing interaction. Single particle levels for both Seeger and Nilsson potentials were used in the calcdations. Level densities extracted from the theory are compared with their conesponding experimental values, It is found that the overall...
متن کاملPairing Gaps from Nuclear Mean–Field Models
We discuss the pairing gap, a measure for nuclear pairing correlations, in chains of spherical, semi–magic nuclei in the framework of self–consistent nuclear mean–field models. The equations for the conventional BCS model and the approximate projection–before–variation Lipkin–Nogami method are formulated in terms of local density functionals for the effective interaction. We calculate the Lipki...

Part 1: description of odd nuclei in mean-field theories. Abstract In order to extract informations on pairing correlations in nu-clei from experimental mass differences, the different contributions to odd-even mass differences are investigated within the Skyrme HFB 1 method. In this first paper, the description of odd nuclei within HFB is discussed since it is the key point for the understandi...
