Dissipative Collapse Through the Critical Point
نویسنده
چکیده
A relativistic model of a heat conducting collapsing star, which includes thermal pre-relaxation processes, is presented. Particular attention is paid to the influence of a given parameter defined in terms of thermodynamic variables, on the outcome of evolution. Evaluation of the system when passing through a critical value of the aforesaid parameter, does not yield evidence of anomalous behaviour. keywords:Self-gravitating systems, Relativistic stars: stability, Late stages of stellar evolution, Relativistic fluid dynamics On leave from Departamento de F́ısica, Facultad de Ciencias, Universidad Central de Venezuela, Caracas, Venezuela and Centro de Astrof́ısica Teórica, Mérida, Venezuela.

Kondo physics and dissipation: A numerical renormalization-group approach to Bose-Fermi Kondo models
We extend the numerical renormalization-group method to treat Bose-Fermi Kondo models BFKMs describing a local moment coupled both to a conduction band and to a dissipative bosonic bath representing, e.g., lattice or spin collective excitations of the environment. We apply the method to the Ising-symmetry BFKM with a structureless band and a bath spectral function s. The method is valid for all...
متن کاملFluctuation and dissipation at a quantum critical point.
In nonrelativistic field theories, quantum fluctuations give rise to dissipative behavior even at zero temperature. Here we use holographic methods to explore the dissipative dynamics of massive particles coupled to quantum critical theories. We present analytic expressions for correlation functions and response functions. The behavior changes qualitatively as the dynamical exponent passes thro...
متن کاملInformation, Matter and Energy – a non-linear world-view
As far as we understand life today, it is the most amazing, even the most wonderful appearance on this planet. Only since exploration of space do we become increasingly aware how the entire architecture of the cosmos seems to be synchronized in a way to make life possible in the first place. Embedded in a series of orders the universe including Earth is but a ripple in a vast ocean of energy. T...
متن کاملQuantum-to-classical crossover near quantum critical point.
A quantum phase transition (QPT) is an inherently dynamic phenomenon. However, while non-dissipative quantum dynamics is described in detail, the question, that is not thoroughly understood is how the omnipresent dissipative processes enter the critical dynamics near a quantum critical point (QCP). Here we report a general approach enabling inclusion of both adiabatic and dissipative processes ...
متن کاملElastoplastic Analysis of Functionally Graded Beams under Mechanical Loads
Elastic-plastic behavior of a beam made of functionally graded material is investigated in this work. The beam is subjected to the constant axial and bending loads and the critical values of these loads for yield, collapse and elastic-plastic conditions are obtained. The variation of elastic modulus and yield strength through the height of the beam is determined with an exponential rule....
