Breaking of the site-bond percolation universality in networks

چکیده
The stochastic addition of either vertices or connections in a network leads to the observation of the percolation transition, a structural change with the appearance of a connected component encompassing a finite fraction of the system. Percolation has always been regarded as a substrate-dependent but model-independent process, in the sense that the critical exponents of the transition are determined by the geometry of the system, but they are identical for the bond and site percolation models. Here, we report a violation of such assumption. We provide analytical and numerical evidence of a difference in the values of the critical exponents between the bond and site percolation models in networks with null percolation thresholds, such as scale-free graphs with diverging second moment of the degree distribution. We discuss possible implications of our results in real networks, and provide additional insights on the anomalous nature of the percolation transition with null threshold.

Ordering and percolation transitions for hard squares: Equilibrium versus nonequilibrium models for adsorbed layers with c(2X2) superlattice ordering
We study the critical behavior of models for adsorbed layers in which particles reside on a square lattice and have infinite nearest-neighbor repulsions. Such particles are often described as ''hard squares.'' We consider both the equilibrium hard-square model and a nonequilibrium model. The latter involves dimer adsorption onto diagonally adjacent sites, and the desorption and possible hopping...

We report the critical point for site percolation for the “explosive” type for 2D square lattices using Monte Carlo simulations and compare it to the classical well known percolation. We use similar algorithms as have been recently reported for bond percolation and networks. We calculate the “explosive” site percolation threshold as pc = 0.695 and we find evidence that “explosive” site percolat...
متن کاملSite and bond percolation distributions : a survey of perimeters for all values of p
This paper presents a comprehensive survey of site and bond percolation distributions. Agreement with the scaling picture and universality for both types of percolation is found within the usual uncertainty limits. Asymptotic analysis of coefficients also supports existing predictions for the high density region. In addition, the non-critical region is studied for a variety of lattices. The res...

We have performed extensive numerical simulations to estimate the fractal dimension of the mass and also the anisotropy in the shape of sample spanning cluster (SSC) in 2-D site invasion percolation processes with and without trapping. In agreement with the most recent works, we have observed that these two different processes belong to two different universality classes. Furthermore, we have...
