چکیده

The anomalous scaling in the Ginzburg-Landau model for the superconducting phase transition is studied. It is argued that the negative sign of the η exponent is a consequence of a special singular behavior in momentum space. The negative sign of η comes from the divergence of the critical correlation function at finite distances. This behavior is related to the existence of a firstorder transition in the phase diagram. The anomalous scaling of the vector potential is also discussed. It is shown that the anomalous dimension of the vector potential ηA = 4 − d has important consequences for the critical dynamics in superconductors. The frequency-dependent conductivity is shown to obey the scaling σ(ω) ∼ ξz−2. The prediction z ≈ 3.7 is obtained from existing Monte Carlo data. A different prediction is made on the basis of duality arguments, giving z = 5/2. We discuss about the discrepancy between these predictions. Pacs: 74.20.-z, 05.10Cc, 11.25.Hf Typeset using REVTEX 1

Anomalously elastic intermediate phase in randomly layered superfluids, superconductors, and planar magnets.

We show that layered quenched randomness in planar magnets leads to an unusual intermediate phase between the conventional ferromagnetic low-temperature and paramagnetic high-temperature phases. In this intermediate phase, which is part of the Griffiths region, the spin-wave stiffness perpendicular to the random layers displays anomalous scaling behavior, with a continuously variable anomalous ...

Quantum phase transitions of correlated electrons in two dimensions

We review the theories of a few quantum phase transitions in two-dimensional correlated electron systems and discuss their application to the cuprate high temperature superconductors. The coupled-ladder antiferromagnet displays a transition between the Néel state and a spin gap paramagnet with a sharp S = 1 exciton: we develop a careful argument which eventually establishes that this transition...

Quantum Phase Transitions in d-wave Superconductors and Antiferromagnetic Kagome Lattices

Strongly correlated systems are of interest due to their exotic collective behavior. In this thesis we study low energy effective theory and quantum phase transitions of d-wave superconductors and spin liquids. First we examine the quantum theory of the spontaneous breaking of lattice rotation symmetry in d-wave superconductors on the square lattice. This is described by a field theory of an Is...

Phase transitions in anisotropic superconducting and magnetic systems with vector order parameters: Three-loop renormalization-group analysis.

The critical behavior of the model with N–vector complex order parameter and three quartic coupling constants which describes phase transitions in unconventional superconductors, helical magnets, stacked triangular antiferromagnets, superfluid helium–3 and zero–temperature transitions in fully frustrated Josephson–junction arrays is studied within the field–theoretical renormalization group (RG...

‘‘Standing’’ diffusion of electromagnetic fields in superconductors with gradual resistive transitions

Electromagnetic field diffusion in superconductors with gradual resistive transitions may exhibit a peculiar ~anomalous! mode which does not exist in superconductors with sharp ~ideal! resistive transitions. This is a ‘‘standing’’ mode. In the case of this mode, the electromagnetic field on a superconductor boundary increases with time, while the region occupied by the electromagnetic field wit...
