Semantic Interoperability by Aligning Ontologies
نویسندگان
چکیده
A fundamental premise of the semantic web is that a level of interoperability is guaranteed among applications running in an open environment. By the use of ontologies applications are able to share information and exchange meaningful data. In this context ontology alignment is paramount to assure communication among applications. In this paper we propose an ontology alignment strategy based in the concepts of partial alignment and inconsistency tolerance.

A Machine Learning Perspective for the Semantic Web
• First, one has to support the re-engineering task of “semantic enrichment” for building the Meta-Web. The success of the Semantic Web greatly depends on the proliferation of ontologies and relational metadata, which requires quick and easy engineering of them and the avoidance of knowledge acquisition bottlenecks. Additionally, we consider the task of merging and aligning ontologies for estab...
متن کاملUncertainty in the Automation of Ontology Matching
The exchange of information between two agents over the Semantic Web requires a means of translating between the “vocabularies” of the agents. Much research has focused on the use of ontologies for specifying an agent’s knowledge and for exchanging information between agents. Effective communication between agents using different ontologies, however, requires determining the semantic interopera...
متن کاملoMAP: An Implemented Framework for Automatically Aligning OWL Ontologies
This paper introduces oMAP, a method and a tool for automatically aligning OWL ontologies, a crucial step for achieving the interoperability of heterogeneous systems in the Semantic Web. Different components are combined for finding suitable mapping candidates (together with their weights), and the set of rules with maximum matching probability is selected. Terminological, machine learning-base...

متن کاملSemantic Interoperability: Revisiting the Theory of Signs and Ontology Alignment Principles Coalition Interoperability, Ontology alignment, Semantic distance
The necessity to conduct military operations in coalition has been established many times throughout history. It is a sociological, political and technological requirement. From a technology point of view, having the militaries work together in coalition imposes technical interoperability requirements on their respective supporting C2 information systems (C2ISs). Since these C2ISs are not devel...
