چکیده

for recovering sparse solutions to an undetermined system of linear equations Ax = b. The algorithm is divided into two stages that are performed repeatedly. In the first stage a first-order iterative method called “shrinkage” yields an estimate of the subset of components of x likely to be nonzero in an optimal solution. Restricting the decision variables x to this subset and fixing their signs at their current values reduces the l1-norm ‖x‖1 to a linear function of x. The resulting subspace problem, which involves the minimization of a smaller and smooth quadratic function, is solved in the second phase. Our code FPC AS embeds this basic two-stage algorithm in a continuation (homotopy) approach by assigning a decreasing sequence of values to μ. This code exhibits state-of-the-art performance both in terms of its speed and its ability to recover sparse signals. It can even recover signals that are not as sparse as required by current compressive sensing theory.

Image Classification via Sparse Representation and Subspace Alignment

Image representation is a crucial problem in image processing where there exist many low-level representations of image, i.e., SIFT, HOG and so on. But there is a missing link across low-level and high-level semantic representations. In fact, traditional machine learning approaches, e.g., non-negative matrix factorization, sparse representation and principle component analysis are employed to d...

Speech enhancement based on hidden Markov model using sparse code shrinkage

This paper presents a new hidden Markov model-based (HMM-based) speech enhancement framework based on the independent component analysis (ICA). We propose analytical procedures for training clean speech and noise models by the Baum re-estimation algorithm and present a Maximum a posterior (MAP) estimator based on Laplace-Gaussian (for clean speech and noise respectively) combination in the HMM ...

On Shrinkage-based Edge Detection in a Pca Subspace for Penumbral Imaging

We propose a robust edge extraction algorithm based on Principal component analysis (PCA) for Poisson noise reduction. In the proposed edge detection, the image is firstly transformed to PCA subspace with sparse PCA basis functions and then the noisy components are removed by a soft threshold (Shrinkage). The proposed edge extraction method, which is used as a preprocessing step of the reconstr...

Fast Reconstruction of SAR Images with Phase Error Using Sparse Representation

In the past years, a number of algorithms have been introduced for synthesis aperture radar (SAR) imaging. However, they all suffer from the same problem: The data size to process is considerably large. In recent years, compressive sensing and sparse representation of the signal in SAR has gained a significant research interest. This method offers the advantage of reducing the sampling rate, bu...

A Fast Hybrid Algorithm for Large-Scale l1-Regularized Logistic Regression

l1-regularized logistic regression, also known as sparse logistic regression, is widely used in machine learning, computer vision, data mining, bioinformatics and neural signal processing. The use of l1 regularization attributes attractive properties to the classifier, such as feature selection, robustness to noise, and as a result, classifier generality in the context of supervised learning. W...
