چکیده
This article presents GraphSLAM, a unifying algorithm for the offline SLAM problem. GraphSLAM is closely related to a recent sequence of research papers on applying optimization techniques to SLAM problems. It transforms the SLAM posterior into a graphical network, representing the log-likelihood of the data. It then reduces this graph using variable elimination techniques, arriving at a lowerdimensional problems that is then solved using conventional optimization techniques. As a result, GraphSLAM can generate maps with 108 or more features. The paper discusses a greedy algorithm for data association, and presents results for SLAM in urban environments with occasional GPS measurements. KEY WORDS—SLAM, robot navigation, localization, mapping

متن کاملLarge-Scale Robotic 3-D Mapping of Urban Structures
This article present results for building accurate 3-D maps of urban environments with amobile SegwayRMP. The goal of this project is to use robotic systems to rapidly acquire 3-D maps, which seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor structures. Our approach is based on an information-solution of the SLAM problem, which enables us to seamlessly integrate GPS, IMU, and scan data. 3-D models acquir...
متن کاملFastSLAM 2.0: An Improved Particle Filtering Algorithm for Simultaneous Localization and Mapping that Provably Converges
Proceedings of IJCAI 2003 In [15], Montemerlo et al. proposed an algorithm called FastSLAM as an efficient and robust solution to the simultaneous localization and mapping problem. This paper describes a modified version of FastSLAM which overcomes important deficiencies of the original algorithm. We prove convergence of this new algorithm for linear SLAM problems and provide real-world experim...
متن کاملSimultaneous localization and mapping with unknown data association using fastSLAM
The Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) has been the de facto approach to the Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) problem for nearly fifteen years. However, the EKF has two serious deficiencies that prevent it from being applied to large, realword environments: quadratic complexity and sensitivity to failures in data association. FastSLAM, an alternative approach based on the Rao-Blackwellize...
متن کاملMap-Based Precision Vehicle Localization in Urban Environments
Many urban navigation applications (e.g., autonomous navigation, driver assistance systems) can benefit greatly from localization with centimeter accuracy. Yet such accuracy cannot be achieved reliably with GPS-based inertial guidance systems, specifically in urban settings. We propose a technique for high-accuracy localization of moving vehicles that utilizes maps of urban environments. Our ap...
