چکیده

Traditional RGB reflectance and light data suffers from the problem of metamerism and is not suitable for rendering purposes where exact color reproduction under many different lighting conditions is needed. Nowadays many setups for cheap and fast acquisition of RGB or similar trichromatic datasets are available. In contrast to this, multior even hyper-spectral measurements require costly hardware and have severe limitations in many cases. In this paper, we present an approach to combine efficiently captured RGB data with spectral data that can be captured with small additional effort for example by scanning a single line of an image using a spectral line-scanner. Our algorithm can infer spectral reflectances and illumination from such sparse spectral and dense RGB data. Unlike other approaches, our method reaches acceptable perceptual errors with only three channels for the dense data and thus enables further use of highly efficient RGB capture systems. This way, we are able to provide an easier and cheaper way to capture spectral textures, BRDFs and environment maps for the use in spectral rendering systems.

Reconstructing the tongue surface from six cross-sectional contours: ultrasound data

This work presents a method for reconstructing 3D tongue surfaces during speech from ultrasound data. The method reduces the dimensionality of the tongue surface and maintains highly accurate reproduction of local deformation features. This modification is an essential step if multiplane tongue movements are to be reconstructed practically into tongue surface movements. Earlier work (Stone & Lu...

Wavelet frame based scene reconstruction from range data

How to reconstruct the scene (a visible surface) from a set of scattered, noisy and possibly sparse range data is a challenging problem in robotic navigation and computer graphics. As most real scenes can be modeled by piecewise smooth surfaces, traditional surface fitting techniques (e.g. , smoothing spline) generally can not preserve sharp discontinuities of surfaces. Based on sparse approxim...

On reconstructing Curved Object Boundaries from Sparse Sets of X-Ray Images

We propose a hybrid method using both geometric and intensity information to reconstruct multiple curved object boundaries from sparse sets of X-ray images. We have implementated this approach and present several examples on real and synthetic data.

Robust Reconstruction of Complex Networks from Sparse Data

Reconstructing complex networks from measurable data is a fundamental problem for understanding and controlling collective dynamics of complex networked systems. However, a significant challenge arises when we attempt to decode structural information hidden in limited amounts of data accompanied by noise and in the presence of inaccessible nodes. Here, we develop a general framework for robust ...

Accelerated Dynamic Imaging by Reconstructing Sparse Differences using Compressed Sensing

Introduction Dynamic imaging with high spatial and temporal resolution is a demanding task in clinical MR tomography. In case of undersampling in dynamic imaging, radial trajectories are advantageous due to their incoherent artifact behavior. Compressed Sensing (CS) [1,2] is a new technique for reconstructing accelerated datasets without utilizing parallel imaging methods. First applications of...
