Lexical Functional Grammar
نویسنده
چکیده
Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) is a linguistic theory which studies the various aspects of linguistic structure and the relations between them. Traditional LFG analyses focus on two syntactic structures. Constituent structure (cstructure) represents word order and phrasal groupings, and functional structure (f-structure) represents grammatical functions like subject and object. These structures have separate representations, but are related to each other in systematic ways. Recent LFG work includes investigations of argument structure, semantic structure, and other linguistic structures and their relation to c-structure and f-structure.

Lexical-functional Grammar of the Croatian Language: Theoretical and Practical Models
Formal description aims to find the most suitable way to formalize a certain segment of the language, or some language phenomena at morphological, lexical, syntactic or semantic level. There is a variety of formal models based on different approaches in order describe the natural language as much as possible. One type of such formal model is described in the thesis entitled “Lexical-Functional ...
متن کاملA Correlational Study of Expectancy Grammar’s Manifestation on Cloze Test and Lexical Collocational Density
The notion of expectancy grammar as a key to understanding the nature of psychologically real processes that underlie language use is introduced by Oller (1979). A central issue in this notion is that expectancy generating systems are constructed and modified in the course of language acquisition. Thus, one of the characteristics of language proficiency is that it consists of such an expectancy...
متن کاملParsing Turkish with the Lexical Functional Grammar Formalism
This paper describes our work on parsing Turk-ish using the lexical-functional grammar formalism. This work represents the first effort for parsing Turkish. Our implementation is based on Tomita's parser developed at Carnegie-Mellon University Center for Machine Translation. The grammar covers a substantial subset of Turkish including simple and complex sentences, and deals with a reasonable am...
متن کاملCollocations in Multilingual Natural Language Generation: Lexical Functions meet Lexical Functional Grammar
In a collocation, the choice of one lexical item depends on the choice made for another. This poses a problem for simple approaches to lexicalisation in natural language generation systems. In the Meaning-Text framework, recurrent patterns of collocations have been characterised by lexical functions, which offer an elegant way of describing these relationships. Previous work has shown that usin...
