Long lifetime components in the decay of excited super-heavy nuclei
نویسنده
چکیده
For nuclear reactions in which super-heavy nuclei can be formed, the essential difference between the fusion process followed by fission and non-equilibrium processes leading to fissionlike fragments is the reaction time. Quite probable non-equilibrium processes, characterized by very short reaction times, are highlighted thanks to mass-angle correlations. However, long lifetime components associated with fission following fusion have been observed with two independent experimental techniques, providing evidence for the formation of compound nuclei with Z = 120 and 124, followed by mass asymmetric fission.

متن کاملKEWPIE2: A cascade code for the study of dynamical decay of excited nuclei
KEWPIE — a cascade code devoted to investigating the dynamical decay of excited nuclei, specially designed for treating very low probability events related to the synthesis of super-heavy nuclei formed in fusion-evaporation reactions — has been improved and rewritten in C++ programing language to become KEWPIE2. The current version of the code comprises various nuclear models concerning the lig...

Unstable quantum systems coupled via continuum and super-radiance
Excited states of a quantum system are unstable and decay into the continuum. The dynamics of the transmission quantum signal through a two-dimensional lattice with open decay channels coupled to the continuum is treated by means of a discretized effective non-Hermitian Hamiltonian. The energies and widths are treated as real and imaginary parts of complex eingenvalues for the effective Hamilto...
متن کاملMass and Lifetime at LHCb
The B c a meson is the ground state of the meson family formed by two different heavy flavor quarks, the anti-b quark and the c quark. The mass of the B c meson has been estimated theoretically to be in a range of 6.2-6.4 GeV/c [2]. Recently unquenched lattice QCD [3] gave the most accurate prediction of M(B c ) = 6278(6)(4) MeV/c , where the first error is statistical, and the second is system...
