A Hierarchical Database Model for a Logic Programming Language

چکیده
This paper presents an extended Clausal Database Model for a logic programming language. Instead of being restricted to one global database, as is the case with Prolog, we allow segmentation of the database into database units which are linked together into a semi-lattice. Each database unit defines a database view which includes clauses which have been asserted into that unit as well as clauses inherited from its ancestors higher in the lattice structure. This model supports arbitrary retraction. Retracting a clause in a database unit effectively blocks its inheritance for that unit and all of its descendants. Motivations for using this model are given. We also discuss the implementation of a Prolog meta-interpreter that uses this model. (hereafter referred to as (Phd) or Prolog Hierarchical Database) This meta-interpreter is in the spirit of Prolog and therefore has a version of assert, retract and cut. Froglingo, A Convergence of DBMS and Programming Language
Froglingo is a language system unifying database management and programming language. It is based on Lambda Calculus in two folds: 1. a Froglingo expression is a term, which is a constant, an identifier, a variable, or the combination of two sub terms. All the application data and logic are expressed by terms. 2. Both data and application logic are treated as "first-class citizen"--data is inte...
متن کاملDeveloping a New Bi-Objective Functions Model for a Hierarchical Location-Allocation Problem Using the Queuing Theory and Mathematical Programming
In this research, a hierarchical location-allocation problem is modeled in a queue framework. The queue model is considered as M/M/1/k, in which system capacity is finite, equals to k. This is the main contribution of the current research. Customer's enters to the system in order to find the service according to a Poisson. In this problem, the hierarchical location-allocation model is considere...
متن کاملHierarchical Arc Consistency for Disjoint Real Intervals in Constraint Logic Programming
There have been many proposals for adding sound implementations of numeric processing to Prolog. This paper describes an approach to numeric constraint processing which has been implemented in Echidna, a new constraint logic programming (CLP) language. Echidna uses consistency algorithms which can actively process a wider variety of numeric constraints than most other CLP systems, including con...
متن کاملAn Entity-Relationship Enhanced Logic System
This paper describes a system (ERLQG) that allows the entity relationship (ER) model to be represented and manipulated declaratively in the Prolog programming language. The predicate calculus inherent in Prolog is enhanced with a set of ER predicates that allows for the definition as well as the manipulation of ER types and instances. The result is a seamless integration of entityrelationship k...
متن کاملOn the Power of Languages for the Manipulation of Complex Objects
Various models and languages for describing and manipulating hierarchically structured data have been proposed. Algebraic, calculus-based and logic-programming oriented languages have all been considered. This paper presents a general model for complex objects, and languages for it based on the three paradigms. The algebraic language generalizes those presented in the literature; it is shown to...
