Integrating Circuit Emulation Service and Modified Packet Bursting technologies in metropolitan optical network

چکیده
With the growth in data traffic, modern MAN networks are moving away from traditional circuit-switched networking technologies towards high-speed packet-switched networking technologies, which support best data traffic, offering high flexibility, cost-effective and easy-installation solution. Circuit emulation service (CES) is introduced in packet-switched networks in order for them to support traditional TDM (circuit-switched) traffic. Modified packet bursting (MPB) is introduced in packetswitched network to improve protocol transmission efficiency and, accordingly, network performance. This paper presents the performance analysis of those two technologies on an all-optical Ethernet ring, demonstrating CES performance improvement thanks to MPB.

Evaluation of Novel Synchronization Algorithms for Circuit Emulation Adapters
Packet switching technologies such as Gigabit Ethernet or IP over WDM are gradually replacing the traditional telephony (PDH/SDH) networks due to their ability to transport data traffic at very high rates. Connecting UMTS/GSM base stations over Metropolitan Gigabit Ethernets has a great potential of cost savings. In our scenario telephony base stations are connected to the core PDH network thro...

Optical Packet Switching (OPS) is among the most promising solutions for next generation metropolitan networks. The increase of packetbased services (video on demand, etc.) is pushing metropolitan networks providers to renew their infrastructures. Today, metropolitan networks are based on SONET/SDH circuit-switched networks, which are becoming inefficient and costly to support new requirements ...

The bursting aggregation assembly in edge nodes is one of the key technologies in OBS (Optical Burst Switching) network, which has a direct impact on flow characteristics and packet loss rate. An optical burst assembly technique supporting QoS is presented through this paper, which can automatically adjust the threshold along with the increasing and decreasing volume of business, reduce the ope...
متن کاملSynchronous Optical Network/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SONET/SDH) Circuit Emulation Service over MPLS (CEM) Encapsulation
This document describes a historical method for encapsulating Synchronous Optical Network/Synchronous Digital Hierarchy (SONET/SDH) Path signals for transport across packet-switched networks (PSNs). The PSNs explicitly supported by this document include MPLS and IP. Note that RFC 4842 describes the standards-track protocol for this functionality, and new implementations must use RFC 4842 rather...
