Pulsed radiofrequency application for inguinal herniorraphy pain.

چکیده
Pain Physician Vol. 9, No. 3, 2006 To the Editor: We consistently obtain similar clinical outcomes using pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) applications to those reported by Rozen and Parvez (1). In agreement, our clinic has been successfully treating post inguinal herniorrhaphy pain for 10 years using PRF applications to the dorsal root ganglia. Thus, we thank the authors for their report. We do note, however, that of critical importance in the application of PRF is the proximity of the electrode to the targeted nervous structure. Sensory stimulation current necessary to activate the appropriate dorsal root ganglion was not revealed in this report. Moreover, at a minimum, the tissue impedance and the current delivered should also be described. We strive to produce sensory Pulsed Radiofrequency Application for Inguinal Herniorraphy Pain

Laparoscopic inguinal herniorraphy is a commonly performed procedure given the reported decrease in pain and earlier return to activity when compared with the open approach. Moreover, robotic assistance offers the operating surgeon considerable ergonomic advantages, making it an attractive alternative to conventional laparoscopic herniorraphy. Robotic herniorraphy utilizes the transabdominal pr...
متن کاملSuccessful treatment of meralgia paresthetica with pulsed radiofrequency of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve.
BACKGROUND Meralgia paresthetica is a rarely encountered sensory mononeuropathy characterized by paresthesia, pain or sensory impairment along the distribution of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve caused by entrapment or compression of the nerve as it crosses the anterior superior iliac spine and runs beneath the inguinal ligament. OBJECTIVE We describe the first reported use of pulsed radi...

Pulsed radiofrequency, in which short bursts of radiofrequency energy are applied to nervous tissue, has been recently described as an alternative technique devoid of nerve injury, a subsequent side effect of thermal lesions created by continuous radiofrequency lesioning. Yet the mechanism of this effect remains unclear. In this study we compared the acute effects of pulsed versus continuous ra...
متن کاملEfficacy of pulsed radiofrequency treatment on the saphenous nerve in patients with chronic knee pain.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE We studied the long-term efficacy of pulsed radiofrequency treatment (PRF) on the saphenous nerve in 115 patients with chronic knee pain. MATERIALS AND METHODS 115 patients with chronic knee pain were investigated in a period of 22~months retrospectively. All patients had pulsed radiofrequency to the saphenous nerve. The mean age was 59 (range, 51-67). All patients we...

Background and aims: Using methods such as pulsed radiofrequency (PRF) and nerve blocks are among the methods used in pain clinics to treat facet-originating low back pain. This study compares two methods of pulsed radiofrequency and facet joint block (FJB)regarding pain recovery and improving disability of patients suffering from facet-originating low back pain. Material and Method: 50 pat...
