Searching for quantum software

چکیده
Quantum computing has the potential to bring a new class of previously intractable problems within the reach of computer science. Harnessing the quantum mechanical phenomena of superposition and entanglement, a quantum computer can manipulate vast amounts of information in a single computational step and perform certain operations exponentially faster than classical (i.e. non-quantum) computers. However, devising algorithms to harness the power of a quantum computer has proved extraordinarily difficult. Over twenty years after the publication of the first quantum algorithm in 1985, despite the efforts of a sizeable community of top-class researchers, only a handful of distinct algorithms have been discovered. This thesis makes the case that evolutionary search techniques can be used to discover quantum circuits, quantum programs and ultimately new quantum algorithms. It presents a number of original results, including an algorithm discovered by evolutionary search techniques which implements the Quantum Fourier Transform on n qubits, and an algorithm discovered by evolutionary search techniques which returns the maximum value for arbitrary permutation functions.

متن کاملApplication of quantum technology in radars
In this paper, the use of quantum technology in the radar system and the advantages of these radars as compared to classical radars have been analyzed. In the beginning, briefly, we present the basic structure of the theory of quantum electrodynamics, and then the role of photon in this theory and photon interactions is presented. In the next step, the most general form of the quantum radar cr...
متن کاملQuantum Searching, Counting and Amplitude Ampliication by Eigenvector Analysis
Grover's quantum searching algorithm uses a quantum computer to nd the solution to f(x) = 1 for a given function f. The algorithm, which repeatedly applies a certain operator G, has led to a major family of quantum algorithms for generating and counting solutions to f(x) = 1 for more general f. By studying the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of G and its variations, we arrive at simple algorithms ...

A general consideration to the Hamiltonian for quantum searching is undertaken in this work. We have established the matching condition to a certaint searching and derived an ideal Hamiltonian. We also show that this Hamiltonian can be resuced to all known quantum searching Hamiltonians. A quantum mechanical algorithm is a complete and straightforward set of directions, based on the quntum phys...

متن کاملBounds on quantum ordered searching
We prove that any exact quantum algorithm searching an ordered list of N elements requires more than 1 π (ln(N) − 1) queries to the list. This improves upon the previously best known lower bound of 1 12 log 2 (N) − O(1). Our proof is based on a weighted all-pairs inner product argument, and it generalizes to bounded-error quantum algorithms. The currently best known upper bound for exact search...
