Segmentation-Free, Area-Based Articulated Object Tracking

چکیده
We propose a novel, model-based approach for articulated object detection and pose estimation that does not need any low-level feature extraction or foreground segmentation and thus eliminates this error-prone step. Our approach works directly on the input color image and is based on a new kind of divergence of the color distribution between an object hypothesis and its background. Consequently, we get a color distribution of the target object for free. We further propose a coarse-to-fine and hierarchical algorithm for fast object localization and pose estimation. Our approach works significantly better than segmentation-based approaches in cases where the segmentation is noisy or fails, e.g. scenes with skin-colored backgrounds or bad illumination that distorts the skin color. We also present results by applying our novel approach to markerless

Using a Novel Concept of Potential Pixel Energy for Object Tracking
Abstract In this paper, we propose a new method for kernel based object tracking which tracks the complete non rigid object. Definition the union image blob and mapping it to a new representation which we named as potential pixels matrix are the main part of tracking algorithm. The union image blob is constructed by expanding the previous object region based on the histogram feature. The pote...
متن کاملReconstructing Articulated Rigged Models from RGB-D Videos
Although commercial and open-source software exist to reconstruct a static object from a sequence recorded with an RGB-D sensor, there is a lack of tools that build rigged models of articulated objects that deform realistically and can be used for tracking or animation. In this work, we fill this gap and propose a method that creates a fully rigged model of an articulated object from depth data...
متن کاملMulti-target Tracking based on Level Set Segmentation and Contextual Information
In the unconstrained environment for video tracking is essential for many applications, such as video surveillance, man-machine interaction. In fact, moving object in the sequences generally has the context information of others or the different moments of its own state. Our research focus on the complex scenes, tracking multiple articulated targets, obtaining the features of the target, gettin...
متن کاملInteractive Segmentation, Tracking, and Kinematic Modeling of Unknown Articulated Objects
We present an interactive perceptual skill for segmenting, tracking, and kinematic modeling of 3D articulated objects. This skill is a prerequisite for general manipulation in unstructured environments. Robot-environment interaction is used to move an unknown object, creating a perceptual signal that reveals the kinematic properties of the object. The resulting perceptual information can then i...
