چکیده

This paper takes the approach that designing is situated and that concepts are formed as a consequence of the this situatedness of designing. The papers presents a framework for concept formation that draws on a structure of a design agent that includes sensors, perceptors and conceptors that interact with each other and the external and internal environment of the agent to produce the situation that is a contingent basis for the formation and use of concepts.

Extending the Qualitative Trajectory Calculus Based on the Concept of Accessibility of Moving Objects in the Paths

Qualitative spatial representation and reasoning are among the important capabilities in intelligent geospatial information system development. Although a large contribution to the study of moving objects has been attributed to the quantitative use and analysis of data, such calculations are ineffective when there is little inaccurate data on position and geometry or when explicitly explaining ...

Computational Modeling of Temporary Design Teams

This paper presents a framework for a computational model of temporary design teams (TDTs). The framework is based on the situated Function-Behaviour-Structure (FBS) ontology, which is used to describe the different aspects of a TDT. This paper demonstrates how TDTs can be represented and reasoned about in terms of the FBS variables. A situated social agent’s architecture is introduced. At the ...

Concept formation in a design optimization tool

This paper presents how a situated agent model can wrap around a design optimization tool and construct concepts from interaction between the agent, the design problem and the use of the tool. The agent develops its structure and behaviour specific to what it is confronted with – its experience. As a consequence, designers can integrate their expertise with the learning results from the agent t...

Knowledge modeling through computational agents: application to surveillance systems

In this work the concept of computational agent is located within the methodological framework of levels and domains of description of a calculus in the context of different usual paradigms in Artificial Intelligence (symbolic, situated, connectionist, and hybrid). Emphasis in the computable aspects of agent theory is put, leaving open the possibility to the incorporation of other aspects that ...

A Probabilistic Reinforcement-Based Approach to Conceptualization

Conceptualization strengthens intelligent systems in generalization skill, effective knowledge representation, real-time inference, and managing uncertain and indefinite situations in addition to facilitating knowledge communication for learning agents situated in real world. Concept learning introduces a way of abstraction by which the continuous state is formed as entities called concepts whi...
