چکیده

We propose a new method of discriminant analysis, called High Dimensional Discriminant Analysis (HHDA). Our approach is based on the assumption that high dimensional data live in different subspaces with low dimensionality. Thus, HDDA reduces the dimension for each class independently and regularizes class conditional covariance matrices in order to adapt the Gaussian framework to high dimensional data. This regularization is achieved by assuming that classes are spherical in their eigenspace. HDDA is applied to recognize objects in real images and its performances are compared to classical classification methods.

Dimensionality reduction methods transform or select a low dimensional feature space to efficiently represent the original high dimensional feature space of data. Feature reduction techniques are an important step in many pattern recognition problems in different fields especially in analyzing of high dimensional data. Hyperspectral images are acquired by remote sensors and human face images ar...

Classification of Chronic Kidney Disease Patients via k-important Neighbors in High Dimensional Metabolomics Dataset

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD), characterized by progressive loss of renal function, is becoming a growing problem in the general population. New analytical technologies such as “omics”-based approaches, including metabolomics, provide a useful platform for biomarker discovery and improvement of CKD management. In metabolomics studies, not only prediction accuracy is ...

Methods for regression analysis in high-dimensional data

By evolving science, knowledge and technology, new and precise methods for measuring, collecting and recording information have been innovated, which have resulted in the appearance and development of high-dimensional data. The high-dimensional data set, i.e., a data set in which the number of explanatory variables is much larger than the number of observations, cannot be easily analyzed by ...

Classification of high-dimensional data for cervical cancer detection

In this paper, the performance of different generative methods for the classification of cervical nuclei are compared in order to detect cancer of cervix. These methods include classical Bayesian approaches, such as Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Quadratic Discriminant Analysis (QDA) or Mixture Discriminant Analysis (MDA) and a high-dimensional approach (HDDA) recently developed. The class...

A Comparison of Methods for Group Prediction with High Dimensional Data

High dimensional data is the situation in which the number of variables included in an analysis approaches or exceeds the sample size. In the context of group classification, researchers are typically interested in finding a model that can be used to correctly place an individual into their appropriate group; e.g. correctly diagnose individuals with depression. However, when the size of the tra...
