[email protected] _________________________ V iral bronchiolitis is a common worldwide disease of infants and young children. It is a significant cause of hospitalisation in infancy. In the year 2002–3, 0.1% of all hospital bed days in England were for acute bronchiolitis with a mean length of stay of 2.7 days, and in a study in one UK region the incidence of bronchiolitic related admission was 30.8 per 1000 infants.
