چکیده

Plain ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) has poor performance in case of Data transmission. In order to improve its performance many Buffer Management Mechanisms have been proposed, e.g. push-out. The aim of this paper is to propose improved approach to push-out based on the analysis of various packet discard policies, and create a simulation model in GPSS (General Purpose Simulation System) in order to evaluate its data performance. It provides a stepbystep description of the design of a simulation model, from concept to GPSS algorithm. Some results of the data performance of UDP (User Datagramme Protocol) running over ATM are presented.

Simulation of Modified Pushout Mechanism with Elastic and Deterministic Traffic Sources with Priorities

The aim of this paper is to present data performance analyses in Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) network. Cells generated by different type of traffic sources face different priority schema entering the ATM switch. That is because of the different nature of the service used. Real-time services like telephone and video obtain higher priority. Elastic traffic, or data services are considered to ...

An Empirical Comparison of Performance of the Unified Approach to Linearization of Variance Estimation after Imputation with Some Other Methods

Imputation is one of the most common methods to reduce item non_response effects. Imputation results in a complete data set, and then it is possible to use naϊve estimators. After using most of common imputation methods, mean and total (imputation estimators) are still unbiased. However their variances (imputation variances) are underestimated by naϊve variance estimators. Sampling mechanism an...

A Call Admission Control for a New Traffic Class in High Speed Networks

High speed networks such as B-ISDN are expected to carry heterogeneous traffic generated by a wide range of guaranteed performance levels. But in practice, many sources produce deterministic traffic instead of random traffic, because sources such as Multimedia Archive retrieval system, Video-on-demand, News-on-Demand, etc., deal with pre-recorded Multimedia(MM) data. Based on this fact, we clas...

An Analytical Model and Performance Analysis of Shared Buffer ATM Switches under Non-uniform Traffic

For uniform traffic, ATM switches employing shared buffering have lower cell loss probability and better buffer utilization than other buffering strategies. However, the performance of shared-buffer switches degrades dramatically under non-uniform traffic. Traffic nonuniformity is inherent in telecommunications, and is likely to be present in ATM networks because of the different characteristic...

Modeling and Forecasting Iranian Inflation with Time Varying BVAR Models

This paper investigates the forecasting performance of different time-varying BVAR models for Iranian inflation. Forecast accuracy of a BVAR model with Litterman’s prior compared with a time-varying BVAR model (a version introduced by Doan et al., 1984); and a modified time-varying BVAR model, where the autoregressive coefficients are held constant and only the deterministic components are allo...
