Reversible mesoscopic model of protein adsorption: From equilibrium to dynamics
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a thermodynamically consistent mesoscopic model of protein adsorption at liquid-solid interfaces. First describing the equilibrium state under varying protein concentration of the solution and binding conditions, we predict a non-trivial (nonmonotonic) dependence of the experimentally observable properties of the adsorbed layer (such as the surface density and surface coverage) on these parameters. We subsequently proceed to develop a dynamical model consistent with the equilibrium description, which qualitatively reproduces known experimental phenomena and offers a promising way of studying the exchange of the adsorbed proteins by the proteins of the solution.

Modeling the Non-Equilibrium Process of the Chemical Adsorption of Ammonia on GaN(0001) Reconstructed Surfaces Based on Steepest-Entropy-Ascent Quantum Thermodynamics
Clearly understanding elementary growth processes that depend on surface reconstruction is essential to controlling vapor-phase epitaxy more precisely. In this study, ammonia chemical adsorption on GaN(0001) reconstructed surfaces under metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE) conditions (3Ga-H and Nad-H + Ga-H on a 2 × 2 unit cell) is investigated using steepest-entropy-ascent quantum thermody...
متن کاملEquilibrium and kinetic study for the adsorption of p-nitrophenol from wastewater using olive cake based activated carbon
The present work was carried out to evaluate the removal of p-nitrophenol by adsorption onto olive cake based activated carbon having a BET surface area of 672 m²/g. The batch adsorption experimental results indicated that the equilibrium time for nitrophenol adsorption by olive cake-based activated carbon was 120min. The adsorption data was modeled by equilibrium and kinetic models. The pseudo...

The object of present study was to examine the adsorption potential of nanozeolite clinoptilolite (CP) for the removal of malachite green (MG) from aqueous phase in a batch equilibrium system. SEM, EDX, XRF, XRD and FT-IR techniques of characterization of zeolite were applied. The effects of initial pH solution, adsorbent dose, temperature, contact time and initial MG concentration on adsorptio...

متن کاملThe Study of Adsorption Characteristics of 1-Chloro-4-Nitrobenzene onto Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Surfaces from Aqueous Solution: Equilibrium and Kinetics
In this study adsorption of 1-chloro-4-nitrobenzene (CNB) from aqueous solutions onto multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was surveyed. The effect of some key parameters such as pH (2-10), carbon nanotubes dosage (0.02-0.1 mg/250mL), CNB concentration (2- 16 mg/L), and temperature (20,30,40,50°C) were investigated. The results showed that, the variation of initial pH and CNB concentration ex...
