Normal Curvatures of Asymptotically Constant Graphs and Carathéodory’s Conjecture

چکیده
We show that Carathéodory’s conjecture, on umbilical points of closed convex surfaces, may be reformulated in terms of the existence of at least one umbilic in the graphs of functions f : R → R whose gradient decays uniformly faster than 1/r. The divergence theorem then yields a pair of integral equations for the normal curvatures of these graphs, which establish some weaker forms of the conjecture. In particular, we show that there are uncountably many principal lines in the graph of f whose projection into R are parallel to any given direction.

$L_1$-Biharmonic Hypersurfaces in Euclidean Spaces with Three Distinct Principal Curvatures
Chen's biharmonic conjecture is well-known and stays open: The only biharmonic submanifolds of Euclidean spaces are the minimal ones. In this paper, we consider an advanced version of the conjecture, replacing $Delta$ by its extension, $L_1$-operator ($L_1$-conjecture). The $L_1$-conjecture states that any $L_1$-biharmonic Euclidean hypersurface is 1-minimal. We prove that the $L_1$-conje...
متن کامل-λ coloring of graphs and Conjecture Δ ^ 2
For a given graph G, the square of G, denoted by G2, is a graph with the vertex set V(G) such that two vertices are adjacent if and only if the distance of these vertices in G is at most two. A graph G is called squared if there exists some graph H such that G= H2. A function f:V(G) {0,1,2…, k} is called a coloring of G if for every pair of vertices x,yV(G) with d(x,y)=1 we have |f(x)-f(y)|2 an...
متن کاملMeyniel's conjecture holds for random graphs
In the game of cops and robber, the cops try to capture a robber moving on the vertices of the graph. The minimum number of cops required to win on a given graph G is called the cop number of G. The biggest open conjecture in this area is the one of Meyniel, which asserts that for some absolute constant C, the cop number of every connected graph G is at most C √ |V (G)|. In this paper, we show ...
متن کاملHadwiger Number and the Cartesian Product of Graphs
The Hadwiger number η(G) of a graph G is the largest integer n for which the complete graph Kn on n vertices is a minor of G. Hadwiger conjectured that for every graph G, η(G) ≥ χ(G), where χ(G) is the chromatic number of G. In this paper, we study the Hadwiger number of the Cartesian product G H of graphs. As the main result of this paper, we prove that η(G1 G2) ≥ h √ l (1− o(1)) for any two g...

Abstract. In the game of cops and robber, the cops try to capture a robber moving on the vertices of the graph. The minimum number of cops required to win on a given graph G is called the cop number of G. The biggest open conjecture in this area is the one of Meyniel, which asserts that for some absolute constant C, the cop number of every connected graph G is at most C p|V (G)|. In a separate ...
