Local theories of inheritance
نویسنده
چکیده
Inheritance networks are not expressive enough to capture all intuitions behind inheritance. Hence, a number of signiicantly diierent semantics have been proposed. Here, a family of local theories of inheritance is presented that are conceptually simple and computationally tractable. A general model-theoretic framework for specifying direct semantics to networks and clarifying relationships among them is developed. It is also shown that the local constraints specifying the semantics are satissable when the attention is restricted to acyclic networks. The notion of local semantics is generalized to what is called \ground" local semantics to further understand the relationship between the local theories and the path-based theories of inheritance. A polynomial-time set-based inheritance algorithms that conform to these inheritance theories is also presented.

Finite difference method for sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories
In this article, finite difference method (FDM) is used to solve sixth-order derivatives of differential equations in buckling analysis of nanoplates due to coupled surface energy and non-local elasticity theories. The uniform temperature change is used to study thermal effect. The small scale and surface energy effects are added into the governing equations using Eringen’s non-local elasticity...
متن کاملNon-Local Thermo-Elastic Buckling Analysis of Multi-Layer Annular/Circular Nano-Plates Based on First and Third Order Shear Deformation Theories Using DQ Method
In present study, thermo-elastic buckling analysis of multi-layer orthotropic annular/circular graphene sheets is investigated based on Eringen’s theory. The moderately thick and also thick nano-plates are considered. Using the non-local first and third order shear deformation theories, the governing equations are derived. The van der Waals interaction between the layers is simulated for multi-...

متن کاملTypes as Theories
There are many notions of type in computing. The most classical notion is \types as sets", which has been extended to cover many features of modern programming languages. This paper shows that such features are handled perhaps even more naturally by an extension of the \types as algebras" notion to a \types as theories" notion. This notion naturally supports object oriented concepts, including ...
