GLUCOSE SENSOR UTILIZING SILICON PLANAR TECHNOLOGY NSF Summer Undergraduate Fellowship in Sensor Technology

چکیده
A glucose sensor using silicon and platinum was designed and fabricated. The interaction of glucose oxidaise and glucose produces proteins which have dielectric properties that produce an electrical output measured through the bonding pads of a sensor. The sensor consists of two layers of platinum: one porous layer that serves as an area for the reaction to take place, and a second layer that consists of two bonding pads. The sensors were placed in solutions of different glucose concentrations. Their resistance was measured and it was found that in a solution of less concentration, the resistance was greater. We also researched non-invasive ways of measuring glucose. Technologies used included Raman spectroscopy, near-infrared spectroscopy, photo-acoustic spectroscopy and mid-infrared spectroscopy.

Organic transistor technology holds great promise for creating a conformal, human-safe electronic neural interface. These interfaces must amplify the low, microvolt-range brain signals so they can be utilized in analog and digital applications. Brain signals from sensors must be relayed to the transistor’s gate through the dielectric and semiconductor layers, as well as through an encapsulant w...
متن کاملA fiber optic sensor for measuring glucose in aqueous solutions
In this paper, the set-up of a multi-mode fiber optic sensor for measuring glucose in aqueous solutions is investigated and evaluated. The basis of this sensor is based on the Fresnel Reflection. In this setup, a helium-neon laser is used as a light source, a fiber optic probe, photocell as detector and a digital multimeter. The statistical analysis of the recorded data shows a highly linear be...

متن کاملCharacterization and Design of Organic Field-Effect Transistor Circuits for Sensing Bioelectromagnetism NSF Summer Undergraduate Fellowship in Sensor Technologies
Current scanning technology for the brain and heart requires electrodes to be placed on the surface, with a wire connected to each electrode. Because the electrodes are large, it is impossible to achieve a high sampling resolution of the signals from the tissue being scanned. Silicon based structures are not very suitable for this application. They have a rigid planar surface which prevents the...
متن کاملConstruction of a photovoltaic glucose sensor applying a metal-insulator-silicon structure in combination with ultra-thin polypyrrole-glucose oxidase film
An enzyme-metal-insulator-silicon (EMIS) structured chemical sensor based on photovoltage technology is constructed for potentiometric biosensing of glucose in a flow-injection analysis (FIA) system. To enhance the sensibility of the sensor to glucose, an ultra-thin (60 nm) film of polypyrrole (PPy)-glucose oxidase (GOD) is formed as the glucose-sensitive membrane through a simple electropolyme...
